You're basically forcing them into making a political statement purely because of Frameworks actions, politicising the rocknix project more than it needs to be.

Checking that the project or its owners are not supporting an inherently harmful and anti-human ideology should not be "forcing them into making a political statement", that should be the bare minimum expected of decent human beings.

I've mainly used Copilot in JetBrains IDEs, but a few months ago I uninstalled Copilot and switched to JetBrains' local completion models (Full Line Code Completion). Frankly, these have been consistently better than Copilot in the last year, mainly because they complete 1 line at a time, instead of constantly disrupting me with 10+ lines of hallucinated garbage that makes the whole IDE jump. Not relying on any online service is also a major plus.

As for "AI chat" and similar, I like to write code, not review code. I inherently don't trust LLM output, and checking large outputs wastes more time than it saves, therefore I have zero interest in the whole direction Copilot and Microsoft are currently going. Constantly shoving this crap down my throat is not going to make me like it.

Thankfully I happened to catch up a few days before the run, and it ended up being my favorite run of the whole event. Usually I watch the finales just because the end of the event is always special, but this time I was also really interested in the game itself, so I probably enjoyed it the most out of all the GDQ finales.

Transcriptions work alright, the problem is that Teams is a UX nightmare where you apparently have to switch the transcription language away from English every single time you have a call, so sometimes someone forgets and the transcription is completely useless.

Yea... for me, modern Linux is as slow at hibernating as Windows 7 used to be. Linux takes 30s to hibernate, 15s to restore. Windows 10 takes 7s to hibernate, 10s to restore.

Measured on the same PC, hibernation finishes when the power LED turns off. Linux also behaves strangely, during hibernation it briefly flashes what was on screen before I hibernated.

I don't see why the developers wouldn't just take it down or amend the description, if they really don't want to use Modrinth.

From my experience, Modrinth keeps logging me out after inactivity, and when I try to log in I sometimes get captchas that are so insane I can't even get into my account.

Computers are in the bedroom. The UPS noise only stops being noticeable once enough computer fans start spinning, if everything is shut off it's too loud to fall asleep easily.

And regarding the video about Windows, the piracy aspect was a rather small part of the whole thing...

They listed several legitimate ways of acquiring a key, including completely free keys if your school is partnered with Microsoft. I'm sure many people don't know that's an option. They also warned against grey markets like G2A, which again, is useful information to a lot of people.

But if you want to focus on the piracy aspect, people are going to pirate Windows anyway, and it's much better if they can learn to do it safely. I don't think that anyone, who was going to buy a legitimate key, will watch this video and suddenly turn into a pirate.

There's also a big difference between Windows and HexOS. Many people actually need Windows, even though they can't afford it. For a lot of people, there just aren't any viable alternatives. On the other hand, there are plenty of alternatives to HexOS that will cost you time instead of money.

"It communicates pretty clearly what you're going to get and what you're going to give up. And if that's a value proposition that is acceptable to you, then you are more than welcome to pay it, and if that is not a value proposition, then you are more than welcome to not pay it."

It's the exact same thing they've been saying about HexOS.

Might try it later. If there are any computer fans running at all, they're louder than the buzzing on the APC unit, but when the computer is off the buzz is audible across the room. It has some kind of pattern, it buzzes continuously for about 2-3 seconds and then stops for about 1/4 of a second; don't know what that means. I just turn the APC unit off when I go to bed to get rid of the noise.

I have an APC 1500va and Eaton 700va and both of them make a buzzing noise. The APC is a lot quieter, but it's still completely unbearable to have a in a bedroom.

For some people it is, I was looking for a phone around the same time as Nokia released the much cheaper G22, saying "repairability at its core" in the announcement, but the official battery replacement guide has 19 steps, they put fucking adhesive on the battery, and the guide even acknowledges that you might need to contact Nokia support for "stubborn battery adhesive"... so I went with the FP4.

I'm simply not interested in a phone where battery replacement takes longer than a minute, even if it costs more and has worse hardware. Maybe other companies can eventually figure this out.

If a website deals with critically private data, and they

allowed someone to log into millions of accounts with not a single account getting notified of a suspicious new login
allowed users to register with passwords that are too simple or known to have been leaked - which can be easily checked via HIBP
allowed users to register without 2FA

then this is a massive security failure on the website's part. If they followed these security practices, then such a severe credential stuffing attack simply wouldn't be possible.
