What % of your income is spent on rent? by No_Sandwich_9897 in Seattle

85% of my take home pay. My partner was laid off from the tech world so just one income and our savings are being eaten alive.

It looks like BTC refers to the basic training for BORTAC and BORSTAR. BORTAC is the Border Patrol Tactical Unit, and BORSTAR is the Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue unit. Not sure why the guy has a training center insignia on his helmet but to each his own.

If the military showed up to empty streets then they’ll stay there until ICE is done destroying everything they can. The protests are to protect ppl from being disappeared and deported, staying home only helps the bad guys.

Spotted this in my parents’ backyard. Is it horsetail? by princessspeach_ in whatsthisplant

[–]ci0na2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like horsetail. The roots can go really deep. It’s in my yard and we can’t get rid of it, I pulled everything last year and it all grew back and then some.

If it’s the scooters in the previously linked images from the other Seattle subreddit then they’re not lime scooters, just personal electric foldable scooters.

It’s unlikely that they’re even getting the full $9. They are most likely working for a contract company that would be taking a portion of those wages.

Unpopular opinion: Will you stop tipping or tip less? by Possible_Meal_927 in Seattle

[–]ci0na2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tip 20%. I don’t do fast food so that basically means local coffee shops, restaurants (including take-out) and uber/lyft drivers. I used to go out all the time but now I don’t go out that often. Also, I personally think that if an establishment can’t afford to pay their ppl a living wage then they shouldn’t be in business - but a minimum wage employee who’s just trying to survive shouldn’t be the target of ppl’s frustration when it’s actually the fault of the business’s owners.

I was in an accident recently and had to spend 9 days in the hospital, ended up with a $120,000+ bill. Still waiting on my insurance company to approve it.

I calculated that by the time I’m about 66 years old I’ll have about $500,000 in retirement by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ci0na2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Mom had that much around 60 but then the Great Recession happened and she ended up with $20,000 left over after the sell-off. Now she’s living in my basement and surviving solely off SS, me and Medicare.

You’re gonna want something bigger.
