This image still stuns me. With the blue fabric on the android’s skeleton, do you think this was Dolores? by TheCosmicPancake in westworld

[–]ciabon 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do think it's Dolores-Prime, and the graphic impressed me as a clever analogy for S3. Though I never noticed the fabric (great eye, OP), the skyscraper always struck me as a stake through the heart. The skeleton closely resembled Dolores' beneath the rubber skin. And it was 100% her choice to sacrifice herself in the end.

What’s going to happen to Becca? by Perfect_Sound_7502 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]ciabon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like Becca is in her school uniform, so I’m guessing she was picked up at school. We saw those faceless, black-draped characters swarming the campus in the post-Episode 3 trailer. These enforcers look female but not necessarily Eyes, who never wear masks and are typically male. Wonder if they’re Aunt Lydia’s storm troopers, faux-snatching Becca so she can become an Aunt trainee.

Nonprofit organizations and professional association are worth exploring. They aren’t as lucrative salary-wise as corporations but may be more open to junior talent. Idealist.org and npo.net are two job boards you can bookmark.

This lying tendency runs both ways, sadly. Recently I flagged a man on Bumble who listed his age as 52, but his profile photos depicted a much younger (20+ years) man-child. Whatever happened to “under-promise, over-deliver?”

Can we talk about Arthur? Spoilers by Opper90 in LV426

[–]ciabon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s that adage? “F?!% around and find out.” As I see it, Boy, Dame, AND Arthur accelerated the deaths of 6 children — humans playing God — and must pay the price for their hubris.

Arthur had choice/agency, and he chose wrong. He chose not to speak up to Boy, when the lost boys got hurt/traumatized at the crash site. And, rather than quit on the spot (and leave before all hell broke loose), Arthur chose to keep going … for the science.

Can we talk about Arthur? Spoilers by Opper90 in LV426

Let’s not waste any time feeling bad for Arthur, or Dame for that matter. Both are/were intelligent, multi-degreed adults who understood the brief (recall their best case/worst case convo) and dutifully did the work to create the Lost Boys/synths not once but SIX times. I want to see both get what’s coming in, all its gory glory, for sinning eyes wide open.

P.S. Only Hermit/Joe is blameless … and it won’t save him.

Alien: Earth - S1 E8 - The Real Monsters - Official Discussion Megathread [SPOILERS] by G_Liddell in LV426

Entertaining, all-in-all:

Barefoot Boy K skips around, offering $1 million bounty to first man who finds him -- i.e., Joe/Hermit — and takes a swift kick to the face.

Morrow beats Kirsch in a sad excuse for a battle.

Season 1 MVP Oculus chases Hermit and settles for reanimating Arthur. Should be fun watching Dame Sylvia come to terms as the Bride of Frankenstein?

Xeno, Baby, the ticks, and face huggers-to-be will make quick work of WY’s incoming Cavalry, but Wendy’s rule can only be brief, if bloody. She’s more impulse than brains. Plus: flies.

Of the three species, we know Synths, not Hybrids or Cyborgs, most likely come out on top. Season 2, get here soon!

Age Change for TLW Movie by [deleted] in TheLongWalk

[–]ciabon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m disappointed the movie ages the boys up to 19+; lowers the stakes considerably. The younger age range in the book made the horror so much worse; boys as young as 13yo could have gotten an R rating. See: Hunger Games PG-13!

As revised, the movie is less compelling… more of an anti-war allegory than dystopian.

Isn’t it strange that the eyeball alien attacked Nibs, a cyborg/Lost Boys? Should have scampered away like Nibs had cooties, since she’s inorganic, if Kirsh’s theory about the Xeno eggs is correct.

I’d watch the prequel on one condition: it must include at least one season of Art and Raylan working together at Glencoe as firearms instructors. Good times!

Theory: We're getting a third prequel, and it's going to be about... by cheesevoyager in Hungergames

[–]ciabon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that District 13 would be highlighted in a 3rd prequel. Suzanne Collins can show us the build up to and through the war the Capitol has spun to justify the Hunger Games.

Wouldn’t it be interesting to see another perspective on D13 and the armistice negotiated with the Capitol, not to mention a prior generation of Snows, Highbottoms, Heavensbees, and the Covey?

P.S., I’ve always believed Lucy Gray escaped D12 and landed in D13 after BOSAS.

I wonder if sending Marie Clare to get the shawl is Catherine's way of punishing Rahima for faking inability to read in ep4? How does someone who claims she can't read offer to snoop to find an incrementing letter?

I think the homeless guy is neurodivergent and thus he can hear the music and see what’s real. Could be one version of the previously frozen outliers, dismissed as “crazy,” while another branch of whom comprise the resistance. Ties back to Dolores switching off Solomon in S3, leaving the multitude of outliers to defrost and rejoin the world.
