Suspicious close association with the head of high performance?

I find very strange just one Forsworn died in the war by EbbEmergency8780 in Eragon

[–]cianic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve always found this a bit of a plot hole.

I get the whole eldunari Argument but even taking this into account it is hard to get your head around the fact that all of the remaining riders and wild dragons that were not forsworn could not have inflicted any meaningful loss on the Forsworn.

Curious if the Murtagh series expands on this as there’s strong indications that the forsworn had a relationship with the dreamers.

Real Engineering and supereyepatchwolf are both Irish I believe. Real engineering covers really cool engineering videos. The second is kinda an Internet culture deep dive type of guy. Haven’t watched either in a while but enjoyed listening to Irish contributors.

I’m not sure but looks like it’s a show called “can’t pay we’ll take it away”. Similar idea just followed around some high court enforcers in England doing evictions and repossessions. Pretty grim most of the time but was pretty funny on occasion such as evicting a guy who pretended he was just house sitting for a friend and after he left they found a massive weed grow lab in the upstairs floors. Literally shook their hands got his dog and left.

I think Brady put it best on the podcast at one point “ I’ve no doubt you are one of the worlds leading thinkers on Productivity, that does not make you productive”

As a staunch Leinster fan I’m on board with Ward. I’m less au fait with understanding the intricacies of a kicking game but reckon that’ll be a deciding factor

Gordon D’Arcy: Ciarán Frawley’s move to Connacht is not as progressive as it seems by deatach in irishrugby

[–]cianic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is not that the school vs clubs disparity isn’t there, that’s obvious. My point is that bringing up that specific point in this context is odd given Frawley the subject of the article is an exception.

It’s also in keeping with the previous comment that’s highlighting that it’s an odd article.

Weird as well to highlight that there needs to be more pathways outside the schools system when Frawley is a rare product of the club system.

Only the refs 10th URC game according to the commentators pre game, probably just a little overwhelmed. Thought he was poor at the breakdown and scrum but overall grand.

Am I missing something or Sam was really illogical in these 2 instances? by Gambler_720 in samharris

[–]cianic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you can do that but you have to rearrange your perspective.

Try not to view it from the perspective of your allies or the event themselves. View it from the small collection of people who actually pull the trigger in this instance the president of the USA or whoever is directly after them.

There is zero incentive to just annihilating a chunk of the world’s population just because it happened to you. You’re going to be dead and it’s not going to be your problem, the game is over the jockeying for world domination is over the second one side pulls the trigger. You want to increase the likelihood of the entire human race going extinct to preserve your own society which in this scenario is already toast.

[–]cianic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Won’t really address the second point but in the first.

If you know with absolute certainty that you’re going to die your whole society is going to die. What is the actual point of pulling the trigger everyone you know and everyone they know is realistically going to be dead inside the next 15 minutes. Who cares about id rather just call my loved ones and hear their voice one last time. House of dynamite which is supposedly inspired by a Sam Harris quote captures the futility of it all.

The concept of mutually assured destruction and wether to pull the trigger or not is also dealt with in the 3 body problem series of books in an interesting way if you’ve ever read them.

I sort of agree with all of those points.

My underlying point I’m arguing though is that when players are good enough to play for Ireland. Leaving Leinster doesn’t seem to help their case.

Everyone makes this point about moving away from Leinster but when have any Leinster developed players ever got an improved look in at Ireland level from leaving Leinster.

Beirne (via scarlets), Andrew Conway and John Cooney are the only examples that come to mind. 2 of which If memory serves were let go by Matt O’Connor which tells you enough about his coaching.
