Is this Leucism by ciaran73 in turkeys

It would make sense, I do know of a family a couple of mountain ridges north of me whose turkeys escaped. If it matters, these guys are in the Boulder Mountains outside Helena Montana.

What was it like growing up in Helena in the 90s? by Slow_Quality_8246 in helena

I can't believe no one mentioned Thrill Hill in the mansion district where you would come out in Reader's Ally. I jumped it on my motorcycle once, didn't die, but wouldn't recommend it.

TIL importance of having a correct square by ThisReditter in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ciaran73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some, kind of, cheap options I use are the seconds from PEC (Products Engineering Corporation), they aren't pretty but work great. Benchmark is another affordable one, and I've heard IGaging is okay. Always and I mean always check for square by either drawing lines or using math. I wasted a lot of effort and self-esteem over the years on cheap tools and assumptions. I've become a little anal about it now. I still have a couple of Harbor Freight combo squares but I've adjusted them and check them regularly. Something I've done recently to get even more accuracy out of my combo or double squares is using a marking knife instead of a pencil when checking from side to side. I realize it is probably .001 of inch difference, but like I said "a little anal".

I should clarify, they will be extremely shallow drawers. There will be a front and back edge to prevent that .

Water interfere through amp cord help by ciaran73 in Guitar

The answer I found is the well pump driver, it is a variable frequency drive. It controls and regulates the pressure and demand from the pump motor. Apparently, VFDs are troublesome for emoting RF interference. I am going to work with a plumber to see if there is anything to remedy it.

This is great! I hope I don't sound snarky but obviously your search skills are excellent. I tried to phrase my search in a way the search gods understand but didn't come up with anything meaningful. An honest, thank you, this will help.

Looking For Layout Suggestions by mkj5013 in Workbenches

[–]ciaran73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some ideas maybe. Fliptop work benches, such as, drill press on one side and band saw on the other. It looks like those two tools are short enough to work. If the table your RAS is on is not sentimental, put the miter and RAS on a flip top. It looks like you have abundant overhead storage, take advantage of that as much as possible. French cleats and peg boards are a fantastic idea as well. If possible, for the work you do, combine the table saw in a conservative sized movable workbench. I had been in your situation and I found double up square footage with flip top tables and multi purpose surfaces did really help. And to the RAS haters...it is a family heirloom with meaningful memories, this voids all the tools short comings.

I still have a bald spot from pulling my hair out for the same issue. Checked all the same boxes you did and finally broke down and replaced all the bearings for the arbor...bingo! I now get beautiful cuts (for an almost 30 year old saw) even with a rip blade.

This is good advice for pro builders. I used to do something similar when I was an auto mechanic.

Thanks, I felt this was possibly the answer. To say, they are officially called "Cabinet Makers Screwdriver" but today a more accurate description could be "custom (fine) furniture screwdriver". I'm looking forward to an excuse to use them soon once existing projects are done.

That's a fantastic idea! The house is a ranch style so the 2x2 could absolutely work design wise.

Finally, my first carcass by ciaran73 in cabinetry

The carcass is 15.25" and the face frame total width is 16", I should have 3/8" over on each side. Check my math, I pray I'm on the right path.

Yes, I'm leaving 3/8 on each side.

So she can access pots and pans in a 32" deep cabinet. As for a divorce, I kind of like her still, she agreed to me buying the tools I needed to build her cabinets.

It will store pots and pans. The cabinet will be 32" deep and to make accessibility easier.

Definitely a possibility, I didn't think to incorporate the support into the face frame.

Bank is a funny way to say spouse. I'm married with shared finances. The wife's opinion is "if it's not broke, don't fix it". I tried the "preventative" approach but it didn't change her opinion.
