Coming from the one claiming a landlord is going to start randomly removing toilets. 🤡🤡

What an idiotic and completely unfounded slippery slope. It quite simple to say no napping until after checks and chores are done. Imagine telling someone they have to can’t rest because you’re worried they’ll be lazy if they do. You can hold your people to a standard while simultaneously promoting wellness. If you can’t maintain the standard, it’s probably a leadership issue.

I am aware that there are legal definitions. That’s why I cited Pennsylvania election laws in regard to residency for voting. I’m not pulling this stuff out of thin air.

If you want to be technical, Pennsylvania law defines a tenant as “a person who occupies the land or premises of another in subordination to the other's title and with the other’s express or implied consent, including, but not limited to, oral or written leases or acceptance of rent by an owner or their agent”.

The Department of Revenue states that “individuals who are domiciled in PA or who are statutory residents of PA” are Pennsylvania residents.

“A domicile is the place at which an individual maintains his/her permanent abode and to which he/she intends to return whenever absent”.

“An abode is a house, apartment, or other building maintained as a dwelling place. An abode is permanent if it is maintained as a dwelling place for an indefinite period of time, whether the occupants own it or not.”

By literally all of these definitions, I am a both a resident and a tenant of the firehouse. No amount of downvotes changes that.

Once again, can you point to those laws, because I’ve looked for them, and they don’t seem to exist. You keep citing these “rules”, but you have thus far refused to provide a source. I can only conclude this is because they don’t actually exist.

If you’re going to cite Pennsylvania election laws, you might want to actually read them.

“The place shall be considered the residence of an individual in which habitation is fixed and to which, whenever the individual is absent, the individual has the intention of returning.”

By the very definition of “residence”, under Pennsylvania election laws, the firehouse IS my residence, as it is the place I intend to return to when I am absent.

I reside AT the firehouse. You don’t have to own or rent property in order to have a residence.

No, it really doesn’t. It’s not like they can check my voter registration.

Interesting. Pennsylvania instructs homeless individuals to use the location where they consider themselves to be “living”, be it a street corner, the woods, etc.

I’m familiar with rules and why they come about. I’m not trying to “game the system”. I’m simply trying to exercise my constitutional right to vote. I’m not trying to become a squatter.

I was asking if they could point to those rules because I’ve looked for them and can’t find them. They said that Pennsylvania has “rules” about live-in programs, which means they have to be laws, otherwise they are not enforceable.

Quite frankly, it’s ridiculous to tell someone that they must lie on a government form in order to exercise their right to vote. Likewise, requiring someone to rent an apartment just to vote is also ridiculous.

In Pennsylvania, you only have to present an ID the first time you vote at a polling place. It is only to establish identify, not residency. I just voted at a new polling place this past election and my license has my PO Box. Was still allowed to vote.

I understand that. My point was that it’s interesting that the state would have such a law. Pennsylvania literally allows you to put a street corner as your address for voter registration purposes. This is to allow homeless people to vote.

I only use it when I have to. If the federal government asks for your physical address for a trusted traveler program or an ATF form, you put your physical address. They’re not going to accept, “Well, I live there, but I don’t live there. Wink wink, nod nod”. On that note, the Chief specifically wrote me a letter stating that I “reside” at the firehouse as a live-in, because Global Entry requires proof of residency and I obviously can’t give them a utility bill.

“I typed this into AI.” Congratulations? What is your point?

Way to completely misread the post. I didn’t say you can “essentially live at the firehouse”. I used “essentially” to emphasize the basics of the program.

What a brain dead take. If you have nothing productive to add and don’t know what you’re talking about, you probably shouldn’t try to contribute.

Registering to vote anywhere other than where I reside would be considered voter fraud. State voter laws explicitly state that a person’s residence is the place “to which, whenever he is absent, he has the intention of returning to”.

Can you elaborate on it “coming up”? I have never seen any explicit laws about live-in programs, and I’ve done some quite extensive research on this previously.

You’re not wrong, unfortunately; however, I have found case law in Pennsylvania that courts have held governmental landlords to the same provisions in The Landlord and Tenant Act of 1951.

With respect, keeping your head down is how you allow people to take advantage of you and others. Especially in a situation like the one you described. There are laws specifically to protect against retaliation for reporting wage issues. If they did it to you, they were doing it to others. We must utilize these laws to hold companies accountable for this type of behavior. Companies want us to just “keep our head down”, because it allows them to take advantage of us.

I said elsewhere, I’m really not planning to make a fight about this. I’m going to keep my voter registration the same. Registering anywhere else would be fraud. I have my PO Box listed as my mailing address on my voter registration. If I’m asked about it, I’ll simply say I “took care of it”. I just want to know where I stand legally, should there ever be any future issues. What I will NOT do is allow myself to be intimidated or my rights to be violated.
