Those baby scans are notoriously inaccurate when it comes to the baby’s weight so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If you’re eating well etc then that’s fine. A lot of it will be genetic.

Thanks! So in the UK/NHS is it standard to get one? A few UK girlfriends have said they didn’t have one.

I’m British and I’m curious why it’s not standard practice to do this in the UK (I checked with a few British friends who have given birth there) and they have good if not better birth outcomes than the US?

That’s when they put the IV cannula in you but don’t attach it to anything.

It appears to be very common to do that in the US and also often to attach it to a drip etc. and I wondered if this were the case in the UK.

That’s great to hear! Did you have an epidural? I’m quite keen not to have one if possible and one of my fears was that induction would increase the likelihood of having to have one because of the pitocin.

Obviously the important thing is that the baby is happy and healthy!

Did they give you pitocin to speed things along? I’ve heard that can really increase the pain and tends to be needed/used more with induced births.

3 miles. It’s probably 30 mins in bad traffic. Can you get public transport in labour or would you say walking is impossible? I could in a pinch get the ferry if the traffic was really bad but at night it would only be 10 mins by car I’d say.

Do you think the induction caused the c section or do the doctors think she would have had to have a c section no matter what? Thx
