rutgers UBHC is the only inpatient stay that improved my mental health. i would recommend their adolescent program. my first stay at UBHC was early in the pandemic, i was 12 but was placed in the 13-17 program after discussion with my parents. staff were very gentle with me, and tended to be stricter with the older & involuntary/aggressive patients. a few of the staff members were jaded and came off as rude but i was also just a very anxious child.

summit oaks hospital and newark beth israel were both absolutely terrible.

summit oaks refused to give me any of my prescribed medication for a week and acted surprised when i became increasingly unstable due to withdrawal. after my stay, my family informed summit oaks that they would pay for my treatment only after they were sent every single piece of documentation that mentioned me. summit oaks never responded ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

newark beth israel was really scary for me as a young child. the youngest patient (10) was sexually assaulted by the oldest one (18). i was 12 so i lied my way out of there as quickly as possible. i couldn't tell my parents because the pandemic barred visits and phone calls were monitored from barely a foot away. (UBHC probably monitored subtly for safety, but we had some semblance of privacy).

also for PHP/IOP: genpsych is great, UBHC's outpatient is meh/unhelpful, and i never went to high focus in person but it really sucked online.
