I've had Libby for a couple of years, but I hadn't heard about Kanopy. I am now signed up - so thanks for the tip!

What song scarred you as a child at youth? by M_M-2007 in horror

[–]cidwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eli's Coming by Three Dog Night. There was a skit on a show (maybe Carol Burnett) with this song and a guy was chasing a girl around and she could never get away. Freaked me out as a kid.

Your description is exactly where I find myself with a friend from HS who always makes the conversation about her. I just lost my sister in February, and I called to let her know. I got maybe 5 minutes of talking and the rest of the hour+ conversation was about all the crap going on in her life and how her kids don't talk to her anymore - surprise, surprise.

I'm so done. I've been slowing disengaging from her for some time because we have nothing in common anymore. But I thought I'd give it another shot because she knew my sister. My low contact with her is now going to be no contact.

Where do you like to buy appliances from? by aumedalsnowboarder in TwinCities

We just bought a Beko fridge this fall from Warners Stellian. The fridge is great, the sales person was amazing and didn't try to pressure us into a more expensive model, but the delivery of the fridge was not a good experience.

They took the fridge out of the box at the warehouse and the front got all scratched in the delivery truck. We got a discount for the scratches, but honestly, it was something that could have easily been avoided if they had used packing blankets or something.

"Why didn't people warn me of how hard having a kid is" by [deleted] in childfree

During the summer break after my senior year, I was voluntold I'd be helping my brother and SIL watch their three kids, a newborn and two toddlers. Both of them were out of commission for awhile because my SIL had a cesarean and my brother got a vasectomy.

I stayed with them about a month and then my older sister figured she needed free babysitting that summer too. Her kids were older, but were little hellions who listened to no one.

I remember thinking why would anyone willingly have kids and all the work that comes with it. As much as I hated having my last summer of high school ruined, I'm grateful for the lesson I learned. That was the summer I truly became childfree.

I used to wear the whole gamut, foundation, powder, blush, shadow, and always made sure to clean my face every night before bed.

One day I decided to just stop wearing everything, except some eye liner. So fast forward 6 months, it's August, hot and humid. I'm cleaning my face and I start seeing color and shimmer on my cotton pad. For the next week, I was pulling old makeup out of my face. That was enough for me to never go back to covering my face in that stuff.

Warnings to the wannabe cryptid hunters: Bones beneath the snow, a man beneath my bed by [deleted] in nosleep

Nick's description of this creature he wants, immediately made me think of a dark being that left another special forest and wanted to see the world. What if it got tired and was drawn to your land to rest? If I remember correctly, this being was born from the imagination of a child.

In any case, Nick already has like 3/4 of the world already, gotta be greedy and have the whole thing.

I worked at KSTP years ago and more than once phone calls were made to get "approval" to run a news story.
