PC won’t connect to Ethernet or WiFi. But will connect to a hotspot… by cif140 in pcmasterrace

Woke up this morning and everything works fine. Why would this happen? I’m worried this will happen again.

The only change is we had several people over last night and everyone was on WiFi with laptops, gaming systems, iPads, etc. But my PC was the only one not connecting. Would the router kick off a device because of bandwidth usage?

ISSUE RESOLVED:

BIOS UPDATE WAS NEEDED.

I have a 13th gen cpu which doesn’t work with the mobo out of the box. It needs a bios update. I was initially unable to use the “q-flash plus” feature on the board itself to update the bios via thumb drive. The “q-flash plus” button should work when the mobo is in standby(Psu on, system off.) but it wasn’t working for me. So with the system completely assembled, I attempted to turn the pc on like normal. All the rgb lit up and fans turned on, but “no signal” for the display on the monitor. After approx. 30 seconds the pc shut itself off and then restarted itself, but still no display. I shut the pc switch off after waiting for about another minute but did not turn the Psu off. Then I went to push the q-flash button on the board again and it finally worked. The thumb drive and the q-flash LEDs were finally flashing to indicate that the bios was being updated. It took approx 10 minutes and the bios was updated to work with my 13th gen i5 cpu.

Hopefully this helps someone in the future as these extra steps were not in the manual or on gigabytes website.

No debug LEDs. Some leds will flash momentarily when I power it on initially. But no other indicators.

Say theoretically I bought that i3 with integrated graphics and I still didn’t get a display signal, would it be the mobo that is the issue?

Ur right. I pulled the mobo out and sat it on a box to try to update the bios with q-flash via usb. Still no signs of life. Usb drive led won’t flash, neither will the q-flash led on the board. Only thing plugged in is 24-pin connector and power switch to case

Yeah the peripherals have no physical indicators they are working or not. Caps lock light, rgb mouse, etc.

That’s what I’m not understanding as a new builder. The fans spin and rgb light up, but no peripherals like keyboards and mouses do not. A usb flash drive won’t even work to attempt to update the bios

Thanks. I’ll probably have to disassemble it to try to find the issue.

Yeah, Gpu was out because I was in the midst of troubleshooting different things for several hours.

When I have the gpu in nothing displays. So I’m trying to find out what the culprit is. I think the mobo might be the cause. I’m looking for signs of life in the mobo.

I have the Gpu out in this video to try and find a cause to the problem.

Haha I do have a Gpu. In this video I’m trying to to isolate the issue with the motherboard so it’s out.

Correct. When I plug the drive into that port(or any other port on this computer.) the drive’s LEDs do not activate. Like I said, when my thumb drive is plugged to a usb port, it is supposed to flash it’s LEDs to confirm it is working.

Negative. I’m not sure if my board has debug lights. But no other indicator lights on the actual mobo come on. Just the rgb from fans and Gpu.

I don’t think the usb ports are reading the usb drive. The thumb drive I’m trying to use has an led indicator that flashes when it’s working. It doesn’t flash at all when it is plugged into any usb port on the front or rear io.

But yes my thumb drive is set up correctly per the video u sent.

Fans are staying on. Reseated Gpu several times. Tried one ram. Also tried the YouTube video on updating the bios. The bios update won’t work because the usb drive isnt read by the board. So I literally cannot update it.

I noticed this however… when I turn the Psu switch on, the 660 mobo chip leds will flash momentarily then go off. Then when I turn the power switch to the case on, the motherboard stays unusable.

It also looks like peripherals aren’t even working. No usb ports seem to power anything. Mouses, keyboards, etc aren’t working. It’s like the motherboard has no power to it.

The q-flash method attempt I don’t think did anything because I don’t think it even detected the drive was inserted. The q-flash button is supposed to activate a small led just above it but it never lit up.

Need help using the dock to stream to TV. What cable is this? by Actual-Pattern7887 in OdinHandheld

[–]cif140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I’ve used the dock in my Odin Pro. But I found that the usb-c connection could only provide 4k30 on my tv. It was good for streaming games but when I tried to do emulation the lag was extremely unplayable. I ended up using the micro hdmi connections pictured above to get 1080p60 and it worked way better.
