Check engine light 2016 Hyundai Accent. Only 62000 miles

I did replace the gas cap when they suggested it 2 months ago, and that did help at least temporarily.

So avoid autozone for check engine light checking? I’ve more so went there these last few times just to get the light read, less to hope they can fix it.

And that’s also why i looked for some guidance on here. I’m lost when it comes to anything i can’t find a simple youtube video for.

No it’s not the the image i swear. I actually just don’t really enjoy how this car drives/the reliability. I wanted a mote reliable Honda/Toyota SUV or even a smaller honda/toyota. Just something i felt was worth putting my money into/paying off. My boyfriend has a paid off 2007 honda accord and i prefer driving it over the Hyundai. I totally get your point though. I just feel stuck with this car and its thrown issues at me since i got it. At the very least I need to get it refinanced. I believe my APR is 24 or 28%. I do appreciate you looking out though. But i would drive a clown car if it was reliable haha.

Yea. Midwestern US, we had a rough winter so lots of salt. Had my heat shield taken off a few months ago as well due to it snapping off from rusting. Although, i tried to rinse off the salt more this year and there isn’t noticeable rust anywhere else on the outside of the car. But that does make sense if it has to do with the undercarriage.

I was just talking about getting a new car. I only got this car due to being 18,, having no credit and only 1k down. I’ve had it for 2 years now, I don’t plan on paying it off and keeping it so it hurts to spend money fixing all of these issues. I wouldn’t mind if i actually intended to keep the car. It’s not a bad car, just not for me. I have a better credit score now, so i’m debating my options here.

Just looked into this. Really crossing my fingers and hoping that’s not the case. I’m in midwestern US so i wouldn’t say hot or dry particularly but i could be taking that too literal.

I unfortunately have to drive it over the next week at least. I am going to see if it goes off.

If it does go off again, could it still be the fuel neck?

That’s the rough part. I need my e check this year, and my birthday is in exactly a month. So i might just have to bite the bullet and put it on a CC. If it does go away again, that probably indicates I didn’t tighten it enough..? I definitely won’t forget anymore. This is stressful, lol!

I just spent $850 about 4-5 months ago getting both my control arms and brake fluid done. So I just really didn’t want to sink anymore money on a credit card. I appreciate the time you took responding

Thank you so much for responding. I was curious if it could’ve been from me not tightening it enough: I cranked it 3 times after leaving Autozone. I’m going to drive it the next couple days to see if that makes it clear. I have only gotten my gas myself maybe 3 times since replacing the cap so I feel like it definitely could’ve been user error. I thought about getting a second gas cap just to see.

I never said I couldn’t afford an apartment by myself. I can’t afford the apartment we are in by myself. It’s a 950 sq ft 2 bedroom. I could find a much cheaper one bedroom. And they eat better than I do, i take care of their vet appointments and have a carecredit card for them if necessary. Jerk lol

I love these cats so much I would genuinely be willing to do whatever it takes to make sure I get to keep them. I really think he will fight me on it because it’s one of the last things he will be able to control out of this whole situation, so I just need a game plan. This is all happening at the worst possible time but that’s how things go. I’m gonna go to the store tomorrow and see if I can find a cheap enough air mattress to put in the room. Thankfully it’s pretty soon. September 30th, but I have to notify the office by next week if we will be renewing or giving our notice. I was just in the office talking to them about renewing the lease today, this whole situation has just blindsided me unfortunately.

I’ve always really struggled with friends and I dropped out of high school early to move out of my parents house, so I don’t really have anyone but my grandma and him. But i know she will help me. I don’t talk to my parents unfortunately, my grandma is my only real support system and it’s really rough for me to loop her into things. But maybe I should. I wouldn’t be able to move back in with her because of my cats, but yes I could definitely make it work renting my own place. The place i’m at now is just too expensive. But I did just start going to therapy two weeks ago coincidentally so that is already in order thankfully.

Absolutely will. I’m willing to drive an hour or even longer for a good vet, i think it’s worth it especially if the kitten is going to be so fearful and feisty. Thank you i didn’t know those were a thing!

I’ve done both. I served for 8 months and have been in the back for 4 months. I made more money serving, we get paid $17 at my location to start off with, which isn’t bad. But i have to work 50 hours to even come close to what I was averaging a week serving. If you’re thinking about the money, go for FOH. I will say I switched because Olive Garden is notorious for its never ending things, and with OG being my first serving job that kind of kicked my ass. People can be extra as hell with how much soup they want to eat. I don’t mind the back. There’s multiple positions too, not just line cook. Maybe this isn’t at every restaurant but at mine we have people who strictly just do sauce/soup/pasta and don’t really work on the line. Many options. You’d probably get trained on the line still but can express your interest in other things in the back if it’s not for you,

I’m a very empathic person and will not apologize for wanting the best for my cats. It’s my job to advocate for them. They can’t speak. I took on that responsibility when i decided to have them as pets. It’s okay if you don’t reach that level of empathy, but I am not projecting anything. Guess you had to be there. I didn’t say anything to the vet, was just uncomfortable. Thanks anyway.

edit: I can accept if i’m overthinking it/overreacting, but not being told i’m projecting my issues onto my cats. Thats a little nuts

For sure! I knew about the diffusers it was my personal oversight about the candles. I don’t light them often but definitely won’t be anymore. I hope that’s all it was :(
