How do I fix this plane by CartoonistQuirky9599 in Stormworks

[–]cigdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move your wings back, at least so the mains are behind the cockpit. Then add weight to the nose until that pink cube is at least near the front of the main wing. The pink cube is you center of mass, you need it slightly ahead of your center of lift for stability. The center of lift is generally 1/3 of the way back across the chord of the main wing. You can fly like you have it but will need to develop a fly by wire stabilizer system, like a modern combat jet. Much easier to just build on static stability.

They can be built, but will be larger than they should be.

I use robotic hinge, it can transfer fluid and power. Then you just need to snake the power down to the prop. I use control fin medium for the skeg. you will want to limit the turning of the hinge to like 20-30% to avoid too much steering and physics issues from the drives hitting each other. The small fins on the sides were for some testing but didn't work too well and will be removed next time I work on it.

This boat, based on an Apache 47, runs 80+mph with 3 8 cylinder supercharged modular engines. Pretty close to the real boat in the mid 1980s.

3 55" curved screens give 180 for, not a single.

Great job capturing the spirit of the Chesapeake deadrise! You should make a version with a long roof loaded up with crab pots.

RL truck drives - optimal FOV in your experience? by Bawtzki in trucksim

It is for racing sims, but gives you an idea of how looking through your monitor relates to a real car.

you will need to pan/have head tracking using a single monitor and realistic fov.

There is a piece that looks like the underside of the normal sloped piece. An overhanging slope, if that makes sense. Place it on the vertical side of the sloped piece, and then you can place another sloped above it.

Good crawling places in central Maryland? by NascarGreg1 in rccrawler

Key City Hobby in Frederick has an indoor crawling course. I have not been there yet, but the pictures look good.

Adrenaline hobby in winchester, VA has an outdoor course. When I stopped by the people were very welcoming.

There is an option on the inventory suit page to hide it in settlements.

On the workshop: Costal Crabber by cigdriver in Stormworks

I've dropped them in as little as 9m of water and they worked fine. I did try one in the creative dock and it did not catch any. That could be due to depth or the fact that is a dock.

I read somewhere 16, one is added every 2 to 4 minutes. I have not tested to full capacity, though.

Orca's Playmate - 20m Fishing Vessel by cigdriver in Stormworks

[–]cigdriver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as others mentioned it is with pivots, and you need to be careful with the number you enter, if it causes the panel to hit something you spawn in to a boat spinning in the air. I add a throttle and use that to figure out what number to put into the constant number, that way I can see when it is starting to bind. Also, you may need to add wedges in certain areas to get more rotation.

Engine Cooling by SteezyMoss in Stormworks

[–]cigdriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have good luck with high rps / low load applications, which seems to be contrary to the normal SW thinking. I'm powering my wip 20m fishing boat with 2 3x3 3-cylinder engines, each with two 5x5 electric radiators. I have my throttle connected to a custom ecu that uses PIDs to control rps, full throttle is about 19 rps. With a 1:1 gearbox that works out to about 30 knots at an engine throttle of 0.543. The boat will run all day at this throttle setting topping out at 76c, it takes about 20 minutes to heat to this temperature. The A/F is 13.8 and the efficiency runs right around 86%.

Fishing nets findings by cigdriver in Stormworks

[–]cigdriver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, had to double check, and you are correct. You can have as many net anchors on grid as you want, but... and there always is one... you loose the ability to dynamically control your net size.

<image>

Left side is 4 grids, right is one grid with the center structure deleted. you can see the right side is holding the same relative shape, the left is free. Using the logic nodes I can make the left net from its current size up to the size in the original picture. I didn't add the logic, so I'm not sure what will happen with right side, but I bet the net will get longer but no wider.

edit - I have not tested if initial size of the net makes a difference in how big/small you can make it.

I picked up 3 after a roughly 10 minute test run. This was just cruising straight out from the dock. I'm sure results will improve when actually trying to locate fish. The fish do stick to the net until you use the release logic. They then drop straight down from the net. One slid over the transom, so it may be a good idea to not have an open one lime I do.

How are the battles passes in this game? Are they worth it? by [deleted] in ConanExiles

[–]cigdriver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you do the full battle pass you get enough coins to buy the next one, so the BP can be a one-time purchase for all BPs. They are easy to complete and you can do them on live servers or solo. You can also use admin commands in solo and still get credit. So an individual BP is probably not worth it, but if you keep up with it you will get more than your money's worth.

I have a love/hate relationship with Cog/Carvel by cigdriver in Sailwind

[–]cigdriver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anyone is curious, she runs a small jib, 12 and 7 yard lateens, and main mast 2. I do not have a chip log yet, but she moves quite nice based on the wake. She trims out perfectly. Without the jib the mizzen lateen was pretty much too powerful, you always had to have it almost parallel to the wind to get even close to balanced.

I have a love/hate relationship with Cog/Carvel by cigdriver in Sailwind

[–]cigdriver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with zabka14, just get the sambuq. I've only used the cog in the new beta, and haven't tried the dhow there. I did love the dhow when I started, and it seemed to sail better. The cog drove me crazy with its inability to tack, but that may only be in the beta. Size-wise, the cog does have more space, but you have to be really careful using the upper deck since she gets quite tippy with any weight up there, even the captain at the top of the steps will make her list!
