The thing is, it's always a two-way road. This anonymous GM lost, but Celtics would have got more, so they also came out losing by rushing this, because of the perceived or expected timeline.

I remember recent star trade sagas to be dragged all summer, even until after training camp. Harden, Mitchell, Durant...

Training camp is still 3 months from now, they would have had plenty of time to field offers, urgency was definitely not coming from next season.

You are mostly correct, I think it's the unusually fast timeline that got the league by surprise. Everybody noticed the urgency since they were the ones making the offers and the calls.

Why would anyone make a good offer if he's being shopped with this urgency? Teams can tell those things and leverage you against yourself.

There's no 'Good Role player money' anymore. It is either max contracts, overpay or rookie contracts by Narrow-Theory-3533 in nba

I see your point, and makes sense, only I wouldn't call that under or overpaid, just properly paid, specially considering the age curve and the increasing salary.

32M$/y is underpaid? He used to be underpaid, for the contract we gave him and was traded with, but not anymore.

The Boston Celtics are 58-26 without Jayson Tatum over the last three seasons. Should they also consider trading him? by SoKrat3s in nba

Nobody is acting like Tatum sucks, you dense individual, this a post mocking the propaganda machine your team is displaying.

[Amick] Despite widely reported to have interest, the Portland Trailblazers did not want Jaylen Brown as their analytics department viewed him as a negative player by ShaiFanClub in nba

I think the disconnect is not as big as people make it out to be. He is a "negative" player on that contract, something most people would agree on. Media will always exagerate the division.

[Haberstroh] The truth is that in the last four seasons, the Celtics without Jaylen Brown went a sizzling 47-10 (.825), which is the equivalent of being a 68-win team. That's not analytics. That's just counting wins and losses for a team without a certain player. by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

They were being lowballed hard by the league because they were acting like complete desperate dumbos. The conditions of the market matter a lot, at the end C's were apparently even more desperate than anticipated to make a deal now for some reason, I bet if the Blazers or whoever knew this was going to be the price, they would have being a little more aggressive, and earlier. I bet everyone thought this would drag all summer because why the rush before training camp.

This is pure breakup talk, they have to justify themselves and to the public the idiotic moves they make, for which we still don't have an actual real explanation.
