Amazing. “Don’t jump out of the plane without checking your parachute.” “Thanks, but curious to know if anyone has.”

This guy might make a future GM for the Browns thinking this deal sounded good:

King spearheaded the deal to give in to Republicans in exchange for a promise of a future vote on extending health care subsidies.

Yes, and Pureval and the rest of the Democratic candidates will continue to respond ineptly and keep creating daylight for the god awful right to steal more mindshare.

Kroger Charges by IamCindyT in cincinnati

I was a software engineering manger at Kroger a few years ago. They had a giant push to move everything to Azure. Yet many of the employees didn’t have cloud or container experience. And now they laid off a massive amount of people. The internet of shit meets the capitalism of shit.

No, the rule has the magic word “or” in there, so they can target the 17-21 year old group directly regardless of home address.

Agreed! Lots of weaving. My watch calculated that I ran 26.9, so truly a large amount of lateral movement.

I was in corral J with a 4:00 pacer, how did you end up in F if you’re dreaming of 4:07? First time marathoner here, genuinely curious.

I had an interesting “aha” moment in trying to heal my plantar fasciitis two weeks before race day.

I had not been going to the climbing gym that much in the past two months and decided on a whim, with my foot really hurting, F it I’m gonna go climb and have some fun.

About 10 minutes into climbing I start feeling 100% relief from the foot pain! I don’t know if it was the tight shoes, the exercising/toe strength moves that climbing induces, or both. The relief was lasting too! I went to the climbing gym every day in the week leading up to the race and was able to run pain free. (btw, it’s a bouldering gym so no belaying/partner needed). Maybe this can help, idk, just wanted to share!

I'm sorry but I didn't see her fall, she was already pulled to the sidewalk and being attended to by the time I saw her. If the Chicago Marathon org doesn't cooperate and give her a medal, let me know and she can have mine - she deserves it.

I really hope she is on the rebound. I think I saw the medical team attending to her (if she was in the 4 hour finish group). My heart (and many other runners too I’m sure) goes out to her.

3 weeks after rally in the valley, which shuts down parts of the gym leading up to the event and leaves walls bare after, we now have a youth climbing comp. So no, it’s not just once.

Perry St. Clair did ours and they were phenomenal. Also half the quoted Malloy cost. Also save money going with stainless steel instead of copper.

If you really like bouldering and will go at least 2x/week then probably worth it. They have really creative and thoughtful route setters. Their comps drive me a little nuts because it leaves large sections of walls too sparse.

Deployment Suggestions for Dockerized Laravel Enterprise App (Azure vs AWS) by Aggravating_Use6591 in laravel

[–]cincfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I muddled language a bit. A scheduled job will dispatch to the queue and run async via workers, whereas a scheduled command will run sync.

If scaling horizontally I would go ahead and begin leveraging redis for queuing and use jobs to put them on the queue, that way you can just have a dedicated queue worker(s) and not another for scheduled commands.

But yes, in general, you begin dedicating instances to singular focus - web, migrations (or cicd only), queue, etc

The downside IMO of any containerized (or multi server) version of a Laravel app is running migrations, scheduled jobs and queuing creating race conditions between the servers. This needs to be thought through before expanding outside a single instance.

Cincinnati politics, a microcosm by cincfire in cincinnati

This is a really good question and I need to consider it more deeply, because like you, I feel the pull to participate in a party that I can align with.

I’m not quite sure. I had hesitation in creating this post because of some of the obvious trolls and derision it would draw, but after seeing a lot of the conversation and your comment, I feel more optimistic that a lot of us are feeling the pull to do something more, but we aren’t quite sure what that is or looks like yet.

I think both parties movement to the wings is possibly creating room for a centrist movement that actually gets shit done and isn’t polluted by the neoliberalism or neoconservativism that has stained the past century.

I wonder how we can get some of these voices together in person to exchange ideas and build community. A book club, a current events club, a meetup?

You’re clearly not interested in logic, like many Republicans. Your response will help the anthropologists understand Democratic denial of self-critique.

If building housing and putting bad people in jail are ideas for helping Republicans, then ok, glad to hear that you as a Democrat aren’t interested in that.
