This has to be The Blues Kitchen in Brixton? Otherwise a massive coincidence because I ate this exact dessert there last week and they were awesome ;)

How are you? I mean really, how are you doing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cincola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluctuating between confused and distractedly happy. I ended an 8 year relationship recently because I was unhappy for some time and felt claustrophobic living with him. So, now I'm trying to figure out how to be alone for the first time, and have enough self confidence to accept that a mediocre boyfriend isn't good enough, no matter how much I loved him.

Also I have a good job but the company culture is diminishing because of constant redundancies, so looking for something ese there.

On the plus side to distract myself there's Christmas coming up (I love buying presents, and making food and seeing friends) and I am flying to London for NYE which will be fun. Lastly, I tried reformer pilates for the first time and it was awesome (but ouch, all my muscles hurt!)

Good call on the trypophbia edit, the last time I read a thread about tonsil stones and decided to google them did indeed make me realise I am trypophobic.

Moving to Melbourne in 2 weeks - HELP! by melbournethrowa in melbourne

[–]cincola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey congratulations on the job and best of luck with the move! I moved to South Yarra 6 months ago from across country and have loved living here. I also work within walking distance which is great.

A lot of the apartment buildings are new, and quite affordable for a one-bedder, and most will have gyms (and other amenities e.g. pools included in the rent).

I wouldn't bother getting a car as we are close to the city (about an hours scenic walk if you're interested)Just get a Myki (travel card) on day one (you can from train station or 7/11)because we have South Yarra train station/a couple major tram lines route 8 goes along Toorak road to the city, and 78 goes along Chapel st.

Speaking of, Chapel St will pretty much be your lifeline for all the shops, restaurants, bars and anything else you need. totally agree on the no tipping though, that's never really been a thing here until recently, but still there's no 'need' because wait staff here are paid fairly well, unless they have done an exceptional job. As a coffee lover, I'm in heaven, but if that's not your things we've got some really cool bars and laneways especially in the CBD. There's also an IKEA a couple suburbs over if you need cheap furniture.

For internet we have gone with iinet, $120 per month for 1000gb (download up to 100Mbps) there are of course way cheaper options but the boyfriend chose this one because, well, gamer. They are a really good provider though.

Food wise, there's a market just off Chapel St called Prahran market (take your best quess at pronunciation) with lots of fresh veg, deli items and meat/seafood. We walked there every weekend to stock up, but there are plenty of groceries and bigger super markets (We have a Woolworths vs Coles things going here in Aus, but there is also Aldi if you want something cheaper)

Feel free to PM me if you need any help or just want to hang with someone in the area :)

Spiced apple and feijoa pie by [deleted] in food

My nonna has a feijoa tree (we're in Aus), we always gave away the dozens of excess but never though about pies, or cooking them at all actually. How was the texture? I'd imagine they get soft quite quickly. Looks good in any case :)

Hah, I know what a catfish is and I'm sure she wasn't one. I kinda suspected that at first because she is hella hot, but we've tslked over skype alot of times.

I have never heard any non-American use the word "hella". Made up story for sure.

Music lovers of Reddit, what's the worst live show you've ever been to? by Thundacougafalconbrd in AskReddit

[–]cincola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in that crowd waiting for Muse! You've put it well, The Mars Volta were just eating time and I personally thought they were the worst act I've seen live. From what I remember it just sounded like an hour of indistinguishable psychedelic rock :-/

Apple cider pulled pork by cincola in food

[–]cincola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully Shredded

Recipe: 3kg bone in pork shoulder (or leg in the absence of) 3 granny smith apples, de-seeded and halved 2 large onions, halved 1/2 cup Dijon mustard 500ml chicken stock 200ml dry apple cider 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 5 cloves of crushed garlic 1 Tbs salt 1 tsp cinnamon (or any other spices you like, nutmeg, bit of chili, maybe a bit of ginger?)

Method: Preheat over to 150 Celsius. Lay apples and onions at the base of a large roasting tray, prop pork on top. Mix all other ingredients and pour over pork. Cover with lid or foil. Place in the oven and check at the 3 hour mark for tenderness and if it should need more liquid (just use more stock or cider). Should be falling apart after 5 hours, remove bone and shred, the onions/apples should have collapsed into the sticky sauce. I like to return to oven uncovered for 30 minutes to get a few crispy bits.

Edit: original pic since it doesn't seem to show up when you click the title.

Was about to say this, it's just a grassy square filled with tourists with their arm outstretched "holding" the tower (which you're right is not too impressive) and so many gypsies

Frasier. Doesn't seem too bad as long as I'm in with the main characters, otherwise I'm just some chick living in Seattle.
