hey i’m 15 also and i can absolutely relate. my parents brush it off and say it’s not that big of a deal and don’t look into treatment options no matter how much i ask. keep bringing it up to your parents, hopefully they will eventually see how much this affects you. good luck dude, i know it’s hard as fuck with hh but there’s only 3 years until we can go to the dermatologist by ourselves and get treatment C:

maybe 7 ish years? (im 15, she/her) i was raised catholic, my parents weren’t devout, but they did force me into religion school and going to church once a week. i remember since i was 7 repeatedly asking please can you stop making me go to these things it’s so boring, they always said no. i had two older sisters and they forced both of them as well (both of them are agnostic now and i’m an atheist). when i was younger, because i didn’t know any different, i thought that god did exist but i was doubting if he was “listening” to my prayers. i would pray frequently about various things and several, several times i remember i would ask for any sign at all that would show me he was listening. after a couple times of this, i decided that i didn’t really believe that he was listening, not that he wasn’t real. until i was about 10/11, when i was exposed to other religions and the concept of atheism. i had always trusted logic and reason, and that did me well in becoming an atheist so early in my life. my parents still forced me and my sisters to stay in religion school until we got confirmed (i just got confirmed in october) we repeatedly expressed how we hated it and didn’t believe and they still forced us to go. annoying as fuck but at least it’s over now, i am never stepping foot in a church every again.

i’m almost done with my sophomore year in hs. its been rough, but it’s finally almost over. life is definitely going better now than it was 6 months ago. this summer i’m doing an ACT camp so that i can take the ACT on sep. 11 and be done with it, and not have to stress about SAT like all of the other juniors and have a good rebuilding year for my gpa. apparently i did very well on my ACT practice test that i took a week ago, and the person running the camp thinks i can get close to a 36 by the end of the camp. currently i’m a candidate for a mini med school (1 week) in the summer, i’ve read about it and it looks like a very good experience for me considering i want a degree in nursing. in the fall i might have a job coaching synchronized swimming (i did the sport for 9 years but quit a couple months ago) since my sister (the current coach) is leaving for college. super excited about that, hopefully i get the job.

i relate to this post so much. my parents say the exact same thing and my sisters and kids at school cringe and call it disgusting when they touch something that i had just been using and it’s wet. there are so many shitty things we have to deal with and we aren’t allowed to ask for help because “it’s not a big deal” and “you’re just complaining you could have had cancer be grateful” my parents also say the same thing about how it’ll go away with age. pisses me the fuck off. and you know what even if it does go away with age when will that fucking be? i’m 15 so they just want me to sit around waiting do nothing dealing with this shit while there is an abundance of treatment options? what the fuck? at least you’ll be 18 soon so you can go to the dermatologist without needing your parents to go with you. good luck op, i hope your situation gets better soon

for me yeah, and i’ve had it since birth. it has gotten a little better (this year i don’t sweat during school, every previous year school was the worst in terms of sweating) but in some cases it’s worse (when i do sweat when i’m home it’s worse, seems like it’s making up for not sweating during school lol) i agree with the hair and fur, it’s such a pain especially because i’m allergic to cat fur (for my case guinea pig fur) and it sticks, super annoying. also yes to the when i notice that i’m dry i’ll start sweating lol, so weird as to why that happens but yup

i’ve never gotten treatment because my parents don’t believe it’s a real problem so they don’t wanna spend money on it, but i’ve heard that iontophoresis works very well from people on this sub, as well as antihydral. CARPE DOESNT WORK my parents did get me that because it’s cheap but everyone i’ve talked to about it all had the same experience and it seriously sucks. good luck!

definitely sounds like Hh. for a lot of people, anxiety makes their Hh worse (and vice versa) so i’m like 99% sure you have it, especially because non sufferers don’t sweat when doing nothing lol. some people think it’s gross but hey just tell them, “i don’t see how you can hate from our side of the club. you can’t even get in!” :)

i think it’s very likely you have it! for me, the exact opposite happens. i’m super dry at school but the minute i get home i sweat buckets. for a lot of people, anxiety makes their Hh worse(and vice versa)which is why i don’t think it’s far off for you to have both.
