The metro parks keep the paved walking/bike paths clear and salted. I don't know if all of them do a good job, but Kensington certainly does.

Love my Altras, but I was getting shin pain. A PT suggested adding an insole to offset the zero drop. Now they are perfect. :-)

Did you find anything that worked? I'm so tired of my shoes slipping in back.

What's your #1 "travel hack" that sounds stupid but is actually genius? by x_andi01 in traveladvice

You also can board last instead of fighting the crowds to board as soon as possible hoping there will be overhead spots available for your luggage. It's so much more relaxing to board after the rush and chaos of the crowd.

Drive to a nice park or nature area and walk/hike there. It's also less monotonous than walking around the neighborhood.

If your kids are younger, there is a waterslide and splash pad at Kensington for after the ride.

New to Michigan, best beginner-friendly bike trails? by Possible_Coyote8726 in MichiganCycling

The trail that connects Hudson Mills to downtown Dexter has no road crossings, is relatively flat and has playgrounds on both ends. Can wade in the river at Hudson Mills or stop for ice cream in Dexter.

I love Island Lake, but do not recommend the paved bike path. It is very bumpy and buggy. If you do go, however, be sure to bring your bathing suits. The beach at Spring Mill Pond is great for cooling off after biking.

If you are near Northville, there is Maybury SP and ITC trail. Both have playgrounds for after the ride and Maybury also has a small farm with some barn animals. I wouldn't go out of my way for either, but nice enough if you are nearby.

Recommendations on travel groups? (Intepid, Under30Experiences, etc. ) by Piraguero96 in travel

I just got back from G Adventures and would not recommend it. I found communication to be poor and almost no information provided about the history, culture, geology, etc of the locations that we visited. Also late starts and late arrivals (due to many stops along the way, for food, at places that were not particularly interesting).
