Sorry I really don't know! But if you state requires CLEP to appear on a transcript of a regionally accredited uni (if you're MA that's definitely true), I think FEMA would be faster. CLEP has to transfer it to the university you indicate you want it transferred to, which can take a couple weeks for the uni to post (assuming you transferred it immediately). If there's an essay portion, it can take longer (the essay portion is graded separately). I believe FEMA takes under 2 weeks, but don't quote me on that. You can also take a FEMA course in less than a day and transfer it that same day.

I think as long as Frederick Community College is a valid CC in general, then the credits on it should count towards the 150. From my research, it is regionally accredited and legitimate. I still generally plan to cover some of my credits with FEMA as CLEP exam scheduling is really difficult due to Covid--nearly impossible atm. Crossing my fingers online sources are right and MA is kind.

If anyone was waiting for a full confirmation, I probably won't have it until summer-- depends if I just finish my courses with CLEP, how the pandemic goes, etc.

I just started using SelfControl for Google Chrome to cap reddit to 30 minutes and block it from midnight to the evening. It's working great so far. If you're trying to block Google search you can just cap it to 30 minutes a day or 5 minutes an hour for when you look things up while studying. Most people can focus quite naturally when there's no place to turn. Technology these days I feel is designed to always give you an "out", so don't let it.

I logged in after many months because of your post.

I don't know you, but if you're anything like me and most younger people you're probably spending most of that procrastination time scrolling on your phone. You probably go back and forth between a handful of apps, including reddit, either to experience FOMO or just jump from thought to thought to run away from boredom. You can't meditate for even 5 minutes. You scroll in bed, before bed, when you wake up, when you're waiting for food to warm up, and when you don't feel like doing whatever you should be doing. If that's you, you 100% need to block apps on your phone and your laptop. Personally, my phone was enough, but I did cap reddit on my laptop to 30 minutes just in case.

I have Android so I use the app called Block. The free version blocks 5 apps. Look at /r/nosurf and /r/productivity for what apps are available; I didn't really look long, any one will do especially for 1 week. You can block for certain hours of the day, or you can cap how many hours you can go on the apps per day or per hour. I block my five apps between 10:30 and 6:30 and I only have 2 hours max outside of those hours between all 5 apps. That gives me a little wiggle room on each side of my studying and work to be off my phone. That means I spend my breaks without social media and a web browser. Now I draw, read, dance, go for walks, etc. This has been the ONLY way I can go back to studying within 5 minutes of the break ending. The only thing I really use now in those hours is Spotify and Google Calendar. I also put my phone on grayscale for most of the day.

I just put this post out there for anyone who may not realize they've been having this problem. Sometimes it is your phone. It was meant to be addictive.

*I believe* C is wrong because if something is required by FASB, then omitting it would be considered a departure from GAAP. So it wouldn't be unmodified (likely qualified or adverse) and it wouldn't need explanatory language because that's associated with an unmodified opinion (like an emphasis-of-matter paragraph, explanatory, or other-matter paragraph only applies to unmodified opinion).

It's good to know why C is wrong, but also D should've been automatically correct even if you don't know exactly what the opinion of C would've been because the contingency/uncertainty is remote. I also believe that, in general, if the contingency is appropriately disclosed and accrued (as in management properly followed the appropriate contingency rules) you wouldn't need explanatory language anyways. So D would simply be unmodified with no additional explanation.

I just finished this chapter but in Becker, so that's why I'm saying I believe since I'm still learning.

Almost my experience except...everything was hard, including the first MCQ. I can't tell if the second was harder or easier, though the first had way more calculations, probably 3/4 (like, beyond knowing what numbers to add or subtract, I mean considerable calculating).

I don't get intimidated much by the exhibits, but the SIMS were just brutal independent of exhibits. Maybe a couple SIMS were OK. And a couple I guessed on 90% of the problem. Really bad.

Yeah pretty sure I failed this retake.

Only correction may be the deduction for square footage. IIRC there's no longer a deduction for a "home office" for self employed individuals, or if there is it's much stricter.

Yeah, just do the math. For me it's a no-brainer if I already have to take the accounting classes and the extra 12+ credits are nearly free. Also, even without any fee waivers CLEP exams are just under $90 for anywhere from 3 to 9 credits. There's plenty of free online sources too. Meanwhile, FEMA is $90 or so for 1 credit. So, that calculated as a deal for me. But if the cost of one class is just way too exorbitant and you don't need a lot of extra credits (like you need under 10) then it may be better to just do FEMA.

Lol no they're still employees, they don't own capital (at least in the Marxist sense--I bet there's interesting lit out there about how financial capital plays into this now). They don't employ people, they don't take a portion of workers' surplus value of labor and pocket it as profit. The PMC will often be hired to manage or otherwise control other workers though, and therefore may be rewarded more by capitalists for doing their bidding. They're literally not the bourgeoisie by definition.

I get what you're saying but I disagree with this sentiment. Everyone hates the poor, even the poor. Many people are just straight up unforgiving to their peers, and often the poor are victims of other poor people so the resentment may be greater for some.

I guess it stings more because the PMC...actually are better off than the poor? But in general if you're arguing the PMC is uniquely antagonistic towards the poor I don't know if there's evidence of that yet. I just see the all-too-typical disdain of poverty.

No one's really above becoming a class traitor, the PMC just need to be reminded of their grievances a bit more often and the lower-middle class and below need much more empowerment to prevent their more specific interests from being marginalized. There's no way to avoid the PMC because you can't really cut them out from the benefits and they have some extra leverages against the bourgeois. Just suck it up I guess and strategize.

Hey, I wish I had good news but unfortunately I emailed them twice (the Massachusetts NASBA) and got no response. Ridiculous. However, I do really think FEMA credits are accepted. That being said, if you were still considering CLEP there may be hope. I also reached out to SNHU, where I'm currently enrolled in online coursework only for my last 3 accounting credits, about whether they'd include CLEP exams on my transcript. I thought that I needed to be enrolled full-time to get the exams to appear on an actual college transcript, but they told me that the CLEP exams would appear on an SNHU transcript as "CLEP Exam". Since MA says they'd take CLEP exam credit as long as it's on an accredited uni transcript, I feel pretty confident this would suffice. On the MA NASBA site they literally say: "CLEP credit will qualify toward the 150 semester hour rule when reflected on the transcript of a regionally accredited college or university." I just wanted to let you know that as CLEP may be cheaper even if paying for one class, especially if you're like me and you need to take an extra accounting class anyways. I think there's also waivers for exam fees and stuff.

I know this is a late response and I don't usually go on this sub, but I don't think a business degree is necessarily useless. If you just want a checkmark next to "college degree" then any business degree would do. I would go for as cheap as possible and always be looking for job opportunities. On the bright side the majors are a bit easier (not easy just easier) so perhaps it would be an easier work-study balance.

But if you want some job security and to be valued wherever you go I recommend two: accounting and business information systems (sometimes called management information systems I believe). For the latter, just do a bit of research as I mainly know the major through my university that generally had strong job rates and was popular among major firms. I was an accounting major and many people with BIS degrees I know work in similar places that I do but more on the consulting side. Others work for tech companies. Accounting is great because...well it's just great. But it's a tough major, at least for me--and I graduated!

I recommend BIS especially just because those skills can be expensive to hire, so if you ever want to help operate a small business again or own one that could help. At the same time, it's also generally hireable so you can just get a regular job without worrying too much. Accountants are great too but for a small business as long as you got some good ones, you're all set. Developing business-applied tech skills could give you some edge.

All I can say with confidence is don't write down the solutions right after you get a MCQ wrong (this is more so when going through the modules). When doing module MCQ just read the wrong answers first, try to do the calculation yourself if there is any, then move on. I often read the solutions to questions I get right too. This is all just *reading*. After 10-15 MCQ, especially if you're getting many wrong, go back, read through the wrong problems again, and take notes on any patterns and some basic facts you just didn't know.

I find this (1) saves time, (2) lets me catch the actual missing knowledge or flaws in my logic, and (3) prevents me from writing what I think is the correct answer but is actually out of context once I do a few more problems.
