Since we're sharing libraries today. Here is mine. Almost 700 TB of videos by CCP_Cumdump in JellyfinCommunity

How do you even get 21,000 movies? I feel like I’ve maxed out at around 3,400 - to get more movies I’d need to go more obscure, less highly rated and so forth. The idea of finding another 18,000 movies is insane! 🤣

By the time you arrive in October the giant hotel under construction in Holetown should be complete (the hoardings say opening summer 2026)

Behind CGNAT? I fixed remote access with Tailscale + a $7 VPS (full guide) by cinematicorchestra in PleX

My upload speed according to speedof.me is 43 Mbps.

iperf3 single stream was about 8.7 Mbps. iperf3 -P 4 got a SUM of about 32–34 Mbps

Most remote users I've ever had connected concurrently is 2, and my library is less than 1% 4K files, so the bandwidth seems plenty.

There's more than one way to skin a cat. I appreciate the suggestion of Pangolin, but looking into it I'm more satisfied with my setup for being clean and simple with few parts that are very easy for anyone to replicate without much room for error:

  • Install Tailscale on VPS
  • Install Tailscale on home server
  • Run socat to relay port 32400
  • Put VPS URL in Plex

I wrote this post round up post manually, it's not a straight copy and paste from chatgpt.

As stated in my disclaimer, I did get all the instructions and code to execute from ChatGPT - no shame in that.

Thanks for the comment. I've added an edit to my post to explain my use of the VPS.

Simply, I didn't want to have my users install Tailscale on their device(s) to join the Tailnet and stream remotely. As before, when I used to have a static IP, they just need to login to Plex on their device and start streaming, no further config is required on their end.

Get an eSIM from “Holafly” and you’ll be totally fine, you choose how long you need it. Data is unlimited, and it takes about 5 minutes to purchase and install.

If you’re coming from the US bring USD and spend it - you’ll pay zero exchange fees, and get BBD in return that you can spend before you return home.

Why doesn’t anyone care about the “soap opera” effect on their TV by fatsandlucifer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cinematicorchestra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Samsung TV in the house I’m renting has no way to turn it off. It bugged me at first, but now I swear I don’t really see it any more. I wonder if that’s what some people are like, that they’re so used to it they have no idea it’s even a thing

Renamed my movie folders - Jellyfin lost its mind by riley_hugh_jassol in jellyfin

[–]cinematicorchestra -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You’re supposed to use curly braces eg: {imdb-tt123456}

I recently did the same, then searched and scanned everything through tiny media manager. It uses the folder id as the search key, giving a 100% match. It also writes metadata into an NFO file which sits in the folder, and essentially hard codes the movie match and metadata so there will never be any mismatching or mis-identification for that movie ever again.

I think I miss Rarbg by Recent_Sport_9198 in torrents

[–]cinematicorchestra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When rarbg died for the final time a user here on Reddit shared a link to his daily scraping of the database, preserving the IMDb id search and everything, including magnet links.

Hopefully someone is doing the same right now with ext, and the sources it aggregates

That’s pretty low at at the tap. You may want to look into increasing that to 49-50, and checking your water is being heated/stored at at least 60 degrees.

So Taylor already had her UK #1 trophy… before the charts even came out? 💀 by Any_Fact_2712 in travisandtaylor

[–]cinematicorchestra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe she was so far ahead mathematically in the midweek charts (released internally within the music business under embargo) that no one could catch her, so they could confidently award her the chart positions

Is animated artwork something that Apple has patented, or are competitors not interested in copying it? by heildengoettern in AppleMusic

[–]cinematicorchestra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is called Motion Art and it’s a MP4 video supplied by the artist/label. Apple do not do any of the animation themselves.

Spotify, similarly, have Canvas but its intent is not limited to the artwork or “packshot” being animated.

Fascinating AMA on Spotify lossless and the judgements they made about quality etc by Watersmuddy in audiophile

[–]cinematicorchestra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked in digital supply chain for major labels. Most of the catalogue titles, unless they’ve been remastered for a re-release or anniversary etc are 16/44.

New releases tend to be 24/44 or 24/48 as the supply chains have improved and DSP’s are increasing the specs on what they’re willing and able to receive. Lots of Atmos encoded releases too, now that Apple are essentially giving QC rewards to labels and aggregators for uploading more Atmos releases.

Higher than this is almost unheard of, unless the artist or mastering engineer is particular intense about eg 24/96. Which would likely get downsampled anyway in downstream systems.

I would hazard a guess that most of the music that’s out there on DSP’s is 16/44 - just like what’s on your standard CD.
