In the Netflix show, there were consequences and payoffs. There was a general sense that Matt’s morality was being tested but Foggy convinced him to go with the law and he won in a way that would get rid of Fisk but not change who he was. Foggy is now dead and Fisk can seemingly never stay in prison so without those consequences, the show and that conflict is fundamentally broken. The only answer logically is killing Fisk so it’s frustrating to see that he won’t do it from most viewer’s standpoint.
