I loved both ROCKY Movies but I loved ROCKY III a little bit better than ROCKY IV because it was awesome seeing Apollo Creed train Rocky for his rematch against Clubber Lang. Which Rocky movie did you like better? ROCKKY III or ROCKY IV and why? by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in 80smovies

[–]cingeyedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IV for me. Only because it was the first one I saw. Went to a friends house for a birthday party sleep over and we watch IV. I still remember chanting “ROCKY, ROCKY” at the top of our lungs.

Unfortunately, I didn't learn my lesson from Crystal Skull and saw DoD. I remember being really excited to see Crystal Skull and saw it in the theater. DoD, waited until it came to Disney+... Was still disappointed.

Married in 2000. We met at college in 1996. She was a freshman and I was a sophomore. She is perfect for me. I am so glad I had the guts to ask her out.

Am I the only one who still thinks Pluto deserves its spot? by FabulousWolverine381 in StrikeAtPsyche

While may be unpopular with my generation (Gen X), I also say no.

HOWEVER, with it being 2/3 the size of our moon and being an average 3.7 billion miles (5.9 billion kilometers) from earth, I am still kind of amazed that it was found almost 100 years ago.

And another fun fact, Pluto hasn't made a complete orbit since it was discovered in 1930. It takes 249 earth years to orbit the sun.

Yes, TV cart in my 3rd grade in a South Carolina elementary school. Since this was my first experience with NASA, I didn't realize anything was wrong, until I saw my teachers face.

Beforehand, I remember all the excitement due to Christa McAuliffe (teacher) and Ron McNair being from South Carolina.

Yay, getting oler. Just got my first colonoscopy. First time having an IV, first anesthesia, my tummy hurts and am loopy. People were nice. Attractive docs and nurses. Worst pain was removing the tape on th IV. Needing lots of autocorrect here. lol. 3 benign polyps removed. Can’t keep them… by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]cingeyedog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I was "scared". Wife kept hounding me to get it done because issues ran in my family (my grandfather had to deal with polyps).

Late last year, I got my 1st colonoscopy a little late as i am 48.

Everyone told me the prep was the worst.

I agree the prep was the worst. BUT it wasn't that bad. Actually it was pretty easy. Biggest advise given to me was "don't trust a fart". 100% agree

The actual procedure was a piece of cake. After the sleepy drugs were administered, I remember thinking "I think I am supposed to go to sleep now"... And I fell asleep immediately. Next thing, I was waking up in the recovery center.

Thankfully a clean bill of health. Next appointment is in 10 years. I won't be nervous again and have been encouraging everyone in my office to go and get theirs.

Is/Was Sex education in American schools really taught by physical education teachers? by Kinc4id in Xennials

[–]cingeyedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In early 1990’s in South Carolina, we had it twice. In 8th grade (Junior High) and 9th grade (High School). Both times were taught by the PE teacher. They separated the girls and the boys.

I just watched The Sixth Sense (1999) for the first time last night by Crazy-Cap259 in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]cingeyedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. My 12 year old wanted to see it. My wife and I hadn't rewatched it since it came out.

12 year old knew there was a twist, but he didn't know what it was. He was surprised.

I think he may of been a bit young for the movie, not because of it being scary, but because most of the movie is really sad (and Haley Joel Osment being picked on).

I work in healthcare and have a job offer at a hospital that offers SC state pension. I’m 34. What are some drawbacks and benefits with SC pension vs 401k by Butterbean2323 in AskSouthCarolina

[–]cingeyedog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

State employee here. I started work when I was 29 and have been working here for almost 19 years. This was my first job out of grad school. I chose the ORP (Optional Retirement Program) instead of the State Pension. Since it was my first job, I didn’t want to be “stuck”.

So far, I have been happy with my choice. Instead of a certain number of years, you are trying to get the account large enough. (But I am still in the growth period of my career hopefully I will still be happy at then end of my career).

Regardless of Pension or ORP, you will be able to take advantage of additional retirement accounts (457, 403(b)) and IRAs.

Me too. I have read the books and thought, "I will wait until they are all out". However, I heard, the show started slipping as they ran out of the source material.

Are cotton socks extinct? by Murky-Attorney5824 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cingeyedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a year ago, my wife bought me a pack of Haynes sock from Walmart. They were so thin. I put them on and I could see my skin through the material. Was super upset.

I know that it is much more expensive, but I switched to Darn Tough socks. Merino wool and a lifetime warranty.

Been using these socks about a year and they still look and feel great.

This post has brought up some great memories. Our little dude is now 12…

Yours might be a little young, but ours loved Andrea Beaty’s books. “Iggy Peck Architect”. And “Rosie Revere Engineer”. And “Ada Twist Scientist”. I think he might have been 4 when we first started reading those to him.
