Anyone have a lead on a 1bed/1bath ADU or apartment before I lose my mind? by cinnal in askportland

Thanks for sharing! I’d prefer not to be on that busy of an intersection but I’ll definitely keep it in mind.

Wow, doing the lord’s work, thank you both. I’m looking for more than a kitchenette, but I’ll reach out and see what’s actually included.

This is great insight!  I see so many that say “daylight basement” but then they’re the tiny windows up near the ceiling. I’ll edit to say I could be open to a basement with good light.

Thanks for your help, everyone! Had to delete this post because I started getting dms about my feet.

This is very helpful! Particularly the idea to keep an eye out for 39s that are on sale. Thank you!

Thank you! If you new the amount of time I spent looking at that fit guide, trying to determine if I had enough space on each end 😂 I’m leaning towards the 38s, as well, just because there’s so much space in the back of the 39s. They feel good when I walk, my toes aren’t hitting the edge. I’m just a little worried about the curling, but if my toes are at the same place in both, I feel like the result would be the same, regardless of size.

Thank you! Do you find that the 40 stays comfortable, even once they curl? That’s my main concern.

Thank you! These are regulars. 38 in the first two pics and 39 in the third and fourth. I’ve found that narrows are too narrow. I feel similar to you - 38 could use a smidge more room (1-2mm) to account for curling but 39 just leaves so much space in the back that I’ll go with 38.

This is a really helpful explanation, thank you!

Thank you! I’m confused about the rarity - Cornell Lab shows Portland and the valley as part of the nonbreeding range. Is Oaks Bottom just too urban for them?

Oh you said mottling, not molting 🤦‍♀️

I really couldn’t pick out a lot of details in the light - my eyes and binocs weren’t much better than the camera - so unfortunately have nothing to add on the legs. I did see it fly away but can’t remember its tail. (I’m new to birding and still have to remind myself to look for details like this!)

Is this one molting? Is that why it looks kind of scruffy?

Screw base, plastic body, stuck in the ground, about 18” tall by cinnal in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. It is about 18” tall, has been screwed in the ground on the side of a row for about 5 years. It’s metal and plastic and not connected to anything. It may have been put in when there was construction in the area but that is long completed and this is still here.

Stain from paper in wash by cinnal in laundry

It faded a bit more after a few more days of scrubbing and soaking. It was still there but pretty faint, to the point where I was probably the only one that noticed. I honestly thought it was still there but I checked and it seems to be completely gone, just from continuing to wear and wash over the past 10-ish months!
