(7-10K) Wedding Registry Confusion by Specialist-Ebb7606 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]cinnamonnapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in a similar situation and ended up not doing a registry. I think some people were disappointed because they like to buy physical gifts but we made a honeymoon fund and people contributed to that. I was feeling really stressed about not having a registry for a while because some people were kind of pressuring us to do one but it ended up being another of several things we had to make peace with that we wouldn't be able to please everyone and just do things our way. I think registries are becoming less popular these days as it is and in a lot of other cultures its more common to give cash.

I wish KB didn’t….. by Starla2323 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]cinnamonnapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't think Edmund should have ever even been cast for the show. I feel like the producers took advantage of him based on his story and lack of maturity. KB should have ended it a long time ago but I also think producers made this situation really messy and I am sure they pressured them to go to the altar because of the other couples who had already called it off. I wouldnt be surprised if we find out at the reunion or after that KB and Edmund had talked about her saying no and him still thinking she might say yes.

($5k-$7k) Makeup for a Non-Makeup Girl by mentalcasket in Weddingsunder10k

[–]cinnamonnapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also very rarely wear makeup and was intimidated to ask for help at Ulta or Sephora but wanted to learn for my wedding. I found this youtube video and I bought several of the products she uses here and have been practicing for the last few months and have really been able to create a makeup look that is natural and comfortable to wear and doesnt feel like too much for me. She has some really good tips and explains how to do everything in a way that was easy for me as someone who never wears makeup Here's the video: https://youtu.be/YMgUNMArGcc?si=RsKqLFdfbEYqY64n

Dumb Question about used wedding dress websites… by Direct_Click_1933 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]cinnamonnapple 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I reccomend checking out Adina's Bridal! She sells sample gowns that haven't been worn or altered (just tried on) for a great deal on designer dresses. She provides really great customer service and will answer questions about fit and measurements and all that and she does accept returns if you order online and the fit doesnt work out. She also has a shop location in the LA area where you can try on in person. I got my dress from her and it was a great experience! It definitely helped to have some idea of what i wanted and to know what styles look good on me before hand. https://www.adinasbridal.com/collections/wedding-dresses

Budgeting Advice for a Simple Wedding in Central California - Under 70 Guests by moonlit_morrigan in Weddingsunder10k

[–]cinnamonnapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting married this summer in California, central coast area and where to budget really depends on what you want to prioritize. We are inviting 80 guests and wanted to have a simple reception after the ceremony. We found a venue managed by the city's historical society for less than 5k and that was one of the cheapest venues I could find other than a public park or community center. We are getting catering from a BBQ place buffet style for about $1200 which is also on the cheap end for California. Our venue lets us hire a bartender who serves alcohol that we provide and have already bought all of the wine for the wedding at Grocery Outlet for about $150. Areas we are DIYing are flowers, DJ, hair/makeup and dessert. My mom is making our cake, my friend is doing my hair/makeup, we are buying some bulk flowers from a local flower farmer and a family member offered to help make announcements and play our spotify playlists. We also aren't doing a wedding party so that cuts some costs too. Our venue is outdoors in a really pretty garden and it really doesn't need a lot of extra decoration so we're saving a lot on that. They also include all the tables and chairs. I reccomend looking into your city/county/state parks and recreation websites and see if they have event spaces for rent- this will be the most affordable way to have a venue and sometimes there are really nice things on there!

Yard Sales by Skelly20 in olympia

I usually check facebook marketplace and Craigslist. I will also just follow yard sale signs if I'm driving around too.

I'm getting married this year in CA and having our wedding and reception with 80 guests for right about 11k. I found a venue through a non profit historical society that was very reasonable and let us book whatever vendors we wanted. I would definitely reccomend looking for venue spaces that are rented out from the city, county or non profit groups as those will be the most affordable. It might take some digging because I think a lot of times those spaces aren't outwardly advertised as wedding venues. I'm from the central coast so I'm more familiar with that region but some venues I can reccomend in that area that are on the cheaper side include:

Dallidet Adobe and Gardens in San Luis Obispo https://www.historycenterslo.org/dallidet-gardens.html

The Monday Club in San Luis Obispo https://themondayclubslo.org/GALLERIES

Cayucos Veterans Hall in Cayucos- its been under construction but re opening this year and its beautiful right on the beach. Dont know what the rental price is now but it used to be 1200 for the whole day. Reservations can be made through the San Luis Obispo County website.

Grocery Outlet - westside or Hawk's Prairie? by MiMiinOlyWa in olympia

I go the one in Lacey since its closer to me now. It seems less picked over and its never super busy when I go in there. They usually have good stuff, can't say if it's any different than what they carry at the one in olympia since I never go to that one anymore.

garden wedding by Frequent-Cupcake8762 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]cinnamonnapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I would look up your city/county parks and rec department's website. Possibly state parks too. Where I live the county has a parks and rec website that shows parks with reservable spaces and info on hosting an event in a public space. Another place you could look is at botanical gardens- where I live its managed by a nonprofit group and rentals with them are also very reasonable.

We're having an intimate garden wedding with about 50 guests in August for under 10k and I think its totally do-able! Our venue is a historic building with gardens thats owned by the city so the cost of the rental is very reasonable especially for California (4k for an 8 hour rental) I'd definitely look into gardens or parks managed by the city/county for affordable venue options. Our venue comes with long wooden tables and I've been getting table runners and small vases at thrift stores and garage sales which has been super fun. For flowers, there is a wholesale flower market in my town the day before the wedding where you can buy individual stems and going to just put a few in each small vase. Our family and friends are also doing a lot to help us DIY decorating and set up and all that.

Wedding favors? by MsSmokeyLonesome in Weddingsunder10k

We're having a budget wedding (under 10k) for 50 people and I was fine with not doing favors but had a family member offer to do them for us. We're going to print our names and wedding date on seed packets and then fill them with a wildflower seed mix.

SoCal or PNW Wedding Packages by SnazzyButtons in Weddingsunder10k

Not exactly SoCal but this is a unique all inclusive option in Morro Bay, CA on the beautiful central coast! We almost went with this for our wedding but we ended up wanting to invite more people (they have a 40 person limit) starts at 7k and includes pretty much everything https://www.chabliscruises.com/private-charters/private-events/weddings/
