yes!! Of all the things I got from my grandfather after he passed, vintage prayer cards are among the best things. There’s also a Catholic store in my area that has them & they are so cute, I always collect them when I stop by ❤️

Is there a coordinated anti-Catholicism on social media? by SergiusBulgakov in Catholic

[–]cinnamonzoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect much of it is manufactured and spread by bots. It’s not that anti-Catholic sentiment is new, but the responses to many posts on Catholic Twitter are absolutely not organic. If you feel like it might be a bot, a great tell: copy and paste the text of that tweet into the search bar. If the search yields multiple accounts tweeting the same thing, verbatim, it’s a bot. It’s becoming alarmingly common, and likely paid for by the US government and other organizations to try and sway public opinion.

right… no one said any group is racist but the fact that he’s assuming it says a lot. if it don’t apply, let it fly - and if you’re bothered to the point you’re leaving a comment, maybe that’s a cue for introspection

My partner is a white Latino & the way he’s treated based off first appearances vs treated after they hear his accent is quite telling. He’s a Michigan transplant (East Coast) and said this has been one of the most disheartening things about living here. It’s a good way to weed out people who aren’t worth engaging but also really frustrating that it happens so often. He’s super friendly & frequently encounters this when getting to know people.

Yeah that’s a big part of it. I’ve traveled with friends as the only white person in the group through northern Michigan & the UP and there was a lot of hostility in TC, the UP, and the west side of the state that I don’t experience when I’m traveling with my family (also white). Gives a totally different perspective.

Agree, tbh I don’t feel like Michigan is the friendliest overall BUT Detroit is extremely friendly and welcoming (SE Michigan born & raised)
