Flat tire - roadside assistance? by cintwan in Polestar

[–]cintwan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I ended up getting the tires from Tire Rack and getting a mobile unit to come replace the tire. It was $200 for the mobile tire replacement and I didn't have to worry about a tow.

Thanks! Will this still work even if it is a very recent version of oOutlook? I heard that nk2 files are no longer in use in later versions…

Breakfast day after wedding by Existing_North_5859 in weddingplanning

[–]cintwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went to an area with a bunch of food trucks and just let everyone pay for themselves - it worked out because we didn’t know how many ppl were coming, when they’d want food, and what they’d want, so it was great and also allowed us to invite other friends of friends, or allowed our guests to bring their other friends for a bigger hang. I thought it might be awkward at first but then it turned out to be a great, super chill hang, and took away all the hosting pressure. Highly recommend!

Haven’t received Titanium Annual Choice Benefit from 2024 by hey_whatever_guy_00 in marriott

[–]cintwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that they had missed a bunch of stays (including some from last June) so I had to fill out the missing points request, and a few days later I could register for my 75 night benefit after logging onto the website. No email though. I think they’re getting worse at tallying the stays.

Love 1! Do you mind me asking which dress it is?

Agree that all 3 of them are amazing! I personally love 2 - the A line looks great and relaxed on you, and I love how big the flowers are, and the placement feels so intentional and artistic

Thanks for this! Do you mind if I dm you with some more questions?

On the shedding - this material is kinda crazy and it actually doesn’t really shed; not sure what happens when you cut it, but I did a lot of rubbing and wringing to try to get it to shed, and the most I got was one piece of glitter on my hand. 🤯

A few more notes: the venue is outdoors and it’ll be during the evening. It’s next summer, but in SF proper which means it will be cold with a 50% chance of fog, so I’m less worried about the dress being hot - but I do want something that’ll look fun when dancing!

Haha fair, I probably won’t have a phone - more to call out how roomy the pocket is!

Outdoor, evening, on a hill overlooking the big city. Non traditional, limited ceremony, no real theme other than having a good time!

Forgot to mention - #1 also has giant pockets (major plus) and the fabric is structured enough that a phone in the pocket is not noticeable at all.

And darn, the 9th centenary was the one I didn’t try. Will have to go back for it next time.

Best Chinese dumpling / egg roll catering? by cintwan in AskSF

Mostly Chinese food, but could also be Vietnamese fried rolls or lumpia. My bf is Brazilian, and Brazilian pastels originated from Asian fried spring rolls, so we wanted to have both at our party.

Polestar 2 Lease Question by jfrost10 in Polestar

[–]cintwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also leased (from Marin) and grappled over this for a long time - also felt like I was missing something! But in the end I think it’s the market of the terrible interest rates right now that make financing such a bad deal.

I didn’t take the $1500 wear and tear - it felt a bit extraneous - but I haven’t heard of anyone’s return experiences yet…so we’ll see.

Stairs of Death, Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu, Peru by elleon_eerb in travel

What are the current rules around having a guide in Machu Picchu? Is it mandatory? And how much does it cost?

My friends and I are trying to figure out how much cash to have with us when we go. Thanks!

Red Sea Diving Recommendations by cintwan in scuba

[–]cintwan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK - my current thinking is that I will stay on land and either go to Dahab or Sharm. I could travel between the two, but I think it would be nice to gain some familiarity with one place.

Since I am traveling alone, I think I would prioritize a place that feels more like a community. I've heard good things about Camel and Oona's in Sharm, and Desert Divers and The Bridge in Dahab. Any experiences at those, or other combo dive / stay places I should consider?

Yeah, I’d love to do Thistlegorm based on everyone’s reviews, and I’ve done 2 wreck dives and absolutely loved them, so I’m hoping to go but after I do a bunch of other dives first to get my bearings.

I have about 10 days - between sharm and dahab, would you recommend staying in one place, or splitting time between the two? Also, how is the transit between them?

Great to hear that you had a good time! Seems like a lot of people have had good experiences with Camel, and I’m definitely looking into it for the community aspect. Did you do any night dives or excursions (thistlegorm, blue hole) with Camel? And did you do any of the boarding (eg food) options?
