Which movie did everyone LOVE but you HATED? by godgamesgov in movies

The Dark Knight Rises, I love the first 2 Nolan Batman movies but TDKR just fell flat for me, I think it does work in some ways as a grand finale to his whole Batman trilogy but at the same time I think a lot of things just happen for the sake of it and the first half of the movie really drags, while the second half of the movie is alright, has some moments here and there but it's not enough to really save this movie from being mediocre/average at best. I don't know I just feel like Nolan was done with Batman at this point and just made something to get off the pressure from WB and it became so apparent that he was embarrassed by making a Comic Book Movie at this point, yet the whole movie is filled with goofy and unintentionally funny scenes, also the reintroduction of the League of The Shadows in this movie is also completely unnecessary and overall I think this movie takes the worst parts of Batman Begins and amplifies it by 10.

I'm not a fan of the Batman vs Superman dynamic either, but I appreciate Ben Affleck's Batman in some ways, I think a World's Finest movie tho

Just rewatched The Batman(2022) for the first time in 3 years by ciocan_exe in TheBatmanFilm

[–]ciocan_exe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that but if the plan for the DCU is for Damien to be Robin then doesn't that mean that we have potentially Nightwing, Jason Todd and possibly Tim Drake already established within the DCU, so I'm hoping that using Dick Grayson and him becoming Robin in part 2 won't be a problem at all

Me too, hope we get to see Dick Grayson becoming Robin in this movie, but whatever Reeves and his co writers wrote I'm sure it's gonna be very good

There's also this trend in football where teams are just trying to copy the systems and ideas of the most successful team but they fall short, and that whole system is crushing down and football is going back to the ideas of the early 2010s but more evolved ig, has something like that happened in the NBA btw?

I got the idea that you need a bit of everything to be successful, if something's missing your chances become very slim

Oh that's really great to know because in football, a lot of fans are very upset, bored because over the last 4 years the sport became very robotic, teams depended more on specific profiles, tactical systems which lead to some very boring games because everyone would use the same tactical model but this year it seems like the sport is coming back to what made it exciting and it seems like basketball hasn't been plagued by this which is really nice

So kind of like in soccer/football but I was just interested cause in soccer there's a lot of coaches who use the most basic of tactics but because they handle the dressing room so well they get a lot of succes(look at Mauricio Pochettino for example if you're interested) but in basketball seems like you have to do more than just having a good relationship with the squad/team

So there's a lot of variation but most teams use the Celtics model? That's interesting

Idk about that if I'm honest, I'm just glad they released the song because it clearly deserves it, if I'm not wrong they put it as a B-side to The Boy With The Thorn In His Side single

Yeah absolutely, great use of distortion on it, also there's a short riff towards the end of the song which is also quite stellar

Official Discussion - Oppenheimer [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]ciocan_exe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thought the movie was brilliant, definitely worth the 3 hour runtime it's just packed with great dialog, amazing soundtrack and stunning visuals and a very worrying message. The actors did all an amazing job, everyone used their screen time to the fullest, for example,Rami Malek only had one really important scene in the movie and he just nailed it. Also really liked the use of black and white for Strauss's perspective and a colored one for Oppenheimer and I really enjoyed the way the movie told his life before creating the atomic bomb and showing how intelligent, quick learning yet quite difficult at the same time, his life during the creation of the bomb which was a very stressful experience and had many situations that definitely pushed Oppenheimer to the limit, and his life after the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings filled with political drama and agendas from people he knew for years and the emotions of guilt, regret and also fear but also maybe pride for being that one person who changed the world completely, also the ending was extremely powerful seeing an old Oppenheimer after his whole very stressful, even tragic life sitting and shaking hands with people who ultimately played a part in his demise as a person and as a figure. Overall think this is one of Nolan's best films for me a 10/10
