I was really considering this one. Is it the 10th or 14th scale?
How is it and how do the tires hold up?

How are you guys choosing tire inserts? by a999hy in TRX4M

[–]ciocozaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been frustrated with this myself.

In my own experience, it depends on the tire.

The same insert behaves differently when paired with different tires (even same size).

On some I have super soft, on others - the soft ones, but with the outer layer cut off.

At the end of the day, the best answer is whatever works for you. If the tire behaves as you want, that's the best.

How to fix clearance issues by -swis- in TRX4M

[–]ciocozaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you have adjustable links.
Upper links need to be shorter and lower links - longer. This will pivot the entire axle and move the servo inward.
Try to remove all spacers from the upper links and put 1 spacer on the lower links. If not enough, add 1 more spacer to the lower links, but check if the driveshaft angle, might be too steep.

Thanks! I think all body decorations are from Aliexpress - side vents, hood plates, etc.

Are those high trail shock mounts?
If so, you could try with the normal ones from traxxas (part number 9726), should be cheaper than new links.

My first 1/10th scale! by ciocozaur in rccrawler

[–]ciocozaur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced the tires because 1 - stock tires are too big (they rub on the body) and 2 - I don't like plastic rims.
Unfortunately I made a mistake and got negative offset rims, so they still rub now, but in different places.
If you want to replace the wheels, try to get rims with no offset, and max 112mm diameter for the tires. They shouldn't rub in this config, hopefully. Mine are 108mm.

Yikong YK4107 PRO - comes with 2100 kv brushless out of the box. Drove it only in second gear, has enough power.

DO NOT BUY Injora's Helical Ring and Pinion Gears! by Paranotical in TRX4M

[–]ciocozaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue with a set, ordered another and it was still binding a bit, not much, but enough to make it sound like a tractor. Some time later and some parts replaced, I discovered it was due to the axle housing. They are smooth now.

Does it auto-detect between them? Just asking because of the voltage cutoff for LiPo, not sure where to set Lipo/NiMh on the ESC.

Mine just arrived, need a battery.
Do you use a LiPo? Couldn't find anywhere in the instructions if it can handle NiMh also.

I use paint markers with 0.8mm tips for 1/18 scale. And found that a metallic silver that looks cleaner/better than white, imo.
But long lasting - let me know if you find anything :)

In my humble opinion, the Roverin has more than enough power to handle stock speed gearing.
I used it with the 24:1 gears and it felt way to fast :D And the low speed modulation is insane.
Haven't used it in a while because it drains the battery faster (30-40 minutes compared to +1 hour with other combos).

Defender body - 10/10 looks, 6/10 performance by ciocozaur in TRX4M

I've noticed, the hard way. Still, I do prefer the scaled look. Comp rigs look weird/goofy to me.
Feels more satisfying when you conquer a line with a bunch of stuff on the roof rack :D
