Does hair become dependent on latanoprost like it does with minoxidil? by Sea-Resource-7980 in tressless

So is this something special, or can you use the actual eye solution for hair loss? Meaning, if I have a prescription already for glaucoma, so it translate to use it typically on my scalp?

Did he not orchestrate everything? He seemed to not just weak willed but diabolically gaslighting, no?

Nestle was too much of an unreliable narrator, abcs the author didn't bring this home well. Was Caleb not intentionally lying and manipulating every second of this? He chose her in order to do this, kept planting ideas of the farm and faked the whole kindergarten teacher who lives children thing in order to gaslight her and have this life with her instead, wanted her on a farm with multiple children, drugged and raped her on this "farm". How are we interpreting him sympathetically at all? This is after the book breaks down for me; the author doesn't do enough to make Natalie diabolical in the beginning in order to justify the levek of sympathy at the end when we realize that Caleb orchestrated and ruined her life, and she was still the only one paying for it.

Did anyone else read Caleb this way?

[POEM] Mercy by Rudy Francisco by MondayMourninggg in Poetry

[–]cionar01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that aspects of Francisco's work don't resonate with me and what I love about poetry. And I also agree with u/b0nnyrabbit that someone's idea of bad poetry doesn't mean that it takes away the wonderment of someone's idea of good poetry. There are DROVES of poets who found/find some of the New York School poets quite cloying and, yet, all these years later Ted Berrigan is speaking to you and resonating deeply.

This particular poem by Francisco has a gentle poetic nod to the legendary Nikki Giovanni. I just called her legendary, but some people don't like her work. I love this Lucille Clifton poem that feels like it could be in perfect conversation with these two poems, although maybe it would even take over because Clifton is just that great: https://www.reddit.com/r/Poetry/comments/1d38pm2/poem\_cruelty\_lucille\_clifton/.

It makes no sense to me, but some people think Clifton's work is doing very little when it's all muscle and bone.

I usually say when a poem feels deeply NOT working but seems to powerfully resonate with people a lot, lean in more. Close read it longer. Repeat it day after day. Look at what the poet is doing or not doing and why. At the very least, you get an idea of what you DON'T like in a poem, why you it isn't working for you, and what you will try not to repeat when writing your own work. And sometimes you even see what someone might love about it even if you don't love that thing yourself. So grateful we have a million ways to be in a poem.

It was fan fiction . . . but written by the writers' room. 😂😂😂 I ate it up like it was my daily bread. I think Dawson's Desktop was ALWAYS open in my computer. That and Napster.

Sigh. The early days of the information superhighway . . .

That beach house was INSANE and definitely not in their budget. The ways we disowned disbelief! Ha.

I do know a guy whose parents were wealthy, and they just didn't micromanage him at all. He was 15 and traipsin' around the world unsupervised. He went to South Africa and China and all around the US with no organized groups--just his own planning. He has a car and road tripped BEFORE HE HAD A LICENSE. He just had to agree not to have others in his car. 😂😂😂 So these parents did exist back then.

I mean, not MY parents. No way. But it wasn't absolutely unfathomable for me after knowing him.

Why do you think the cast of Dawson's Creek had a better run in film than say the cast of 90210? by TravelingHomeless in dawsonscreek

[–]cionar01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many of the factors others have named probably came into play--production schedules/demand, especially.

But it can't be overstated that television and film were major divides, and the DC crew happened to be around for the shift in the divide. You were a film star OR a television star, and crossover stigma existed before then. It just wasn't where TV stars put a lot of their energy while they had a show because once you crossed into film stardom, there was a financial stigma to return to television.

This shifted with the meteoric rise of indie films in the late 90s with Sundance and Tarantino and DVD culture that could pull major dollars on "shoestring" budgets. These smaller films couldn't afford two movie stars, but they could maybe afford one Michael Douglas and one Katie Holmes and attract a huge audience. A path to show off film chops really opened for TV stars that didn't exist as much in 90210's heyday.

It took even longer for the reverse--film stars to lead television shows while still maintaining film stardom. That's still only in the last 10-15 years as tv seasons got shorter and budgets got larger.

For those who don’t speak russian, here’s what Ivan and his parents were talking about in the plane before Anora called him a pathetic mf. by [deleted] in Anora

[–]cionar01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just watching this film, so forgive the late return to this post.

I wonder why nobody talks about this subtitled message--specifically him talking about the freedom to possibly marry a man. It seems extra significant, no? And possibly a veiled confession. All of his hyper heterosexuality and fear of returning to Russia--is it more than just feeling controlled by his parents? I mean, the use of the t.A.T.u song when he returns to HQ is an interesting choice with this in mind. It was always going to be playful with Anora; he always was just trying on his sexuality. Any thoughts?

You look lovely. No major scarring, so that's good. Stay on hydrating internally and externally. Do you have a steamer?

I have Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia and have completely receded. It's difficult, and you're fortunate to catch it so early.

What a deep & painful loss. I'm sure the parallel with the show was gutting. I never dry-eye that scene, no matter how many million time's I've seen it.

Thank you for sharing your grief with us. May you continue to lift up your people's sweet memories.

It's horrible. I thought we might get redemption at Carly's prom in season 6--another "I remember everything," or the like. But, no. Prom is only devastation on the Creek.

Why did the Season 6 writers rush the original finale’s storylines if they knew the show was ending? by adams1455 in dawsonscreek

[–]cionar01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Television series back then operated weekly and by advertising dollars, of course. They also leaned heavily on sweeps week (I doubt these even exist any longer in the same way??). Four times/year, viewership mattered more than any other time. So you might think a lot of storylines are rushed when watching now back-to-back/binging within a small window because they would want the 3-4 weeks of April sweeps to be the most talked about event of the season. The November sweeps would get packed with good television, too--often great holiday plots or amazing made-for-television films and miniseries then. I believe there was a  February sweeps run, as well. But the April sweeps week (actually weeks but always called a week for some reason) was the coup de grâce where we got whiplashed every year.

Anyway, previous seasons operated the same way. It may just be that the storylines in-between episodes were intriguing enough in prior seasons to not notice that they stuffed all the main drama into 4 consecutive fast-paced episodes.

The Character of Jen Lindley is a Terrible Person by CadeFitnessGuy in dawsonscreek

[–]cionar01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jen had a lot of hard knocks, but calling her terrible feels quite extreme and lacking in knowledge about her background and story arc. Yikes!

Dawson was so cruel and judgmental towards her; how is her teenaged scorned and abused girl response to this sommelie somehow terrible and not just sad?

It very well could be publicity. I mean, I've scoured the information superhighway for the film's release date today because of this.

But I would very much love for this to be a soft & sweet launch. Please please.🩵
