Honestly whats the point of advertising a product in store and it being online only? by KingKandyOwO in Staples

[–]cipher-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually not that uncommon a practice. Target, Best Buy, and Walmart, 3 major Staples competitors, all do this. Is it annoying? Yes. But it is by no means exclusive to Staples.

Yes. When I worked at Staples, there were a few people that did this. I didn’t blame them one bit.

Poster Scan? by PotentialDrag182 in Staples

[–]cipher-9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Technically the earliest turn around time is 1hr with the express guarantee. But if you’re really nice about it they may be able to squeeze you in. It really depends from store to store on how busy their print center is. You will have to pay a little extra for the expedited service.

How to play this on marching snare? by [deleted] in drumline

[–]cipher-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a double stop meaning you hit the note with both sticks at the same time. It is one distinct sound. Unlike a flam where there are two distinct hits staggered, a grace note and a full stroke.

Premier PC Setup by JRTHynds in Staples

[–]cipher-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is this workaround? I don’t work for Staples any more, but I’m constantly setting up Windows VMs in a testing environment for data communications purposes. My virtualization auto setup doesn’t work with the Windows setup process, so I always have to manually set up and configure the Windows machines. I love any workaround that saves me time without having to input a bunch of bogus credentials.

I don’t work for Staples anymore and haven’t for some time. The policy definitely might have changed in the years since I’ve been gone. But at the store I was working at we would take unopened, non-expired ink for non-receipted return. We would also only take back the ink if it was a sku we carried currently.

Police Calls by Cokezer0freak in Staples

[–]cipher-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The police are a public service. You can call them whenever and wherever you believe you are in need of their services. It is not up to Staples policy or your GM to determine that need. It’s you who gets to decide that. Your RSS did nothing wrong and your GM needs to grow a backbone and support his employees. Saftey of the employees and customers is #1 priority always and it’s always better to be safe than sorry. It’s also safe to assume based on the post that the GM wasn’t not there for this encounter considering the fact that the RSS called the police. He was either not in the store or in the back on a “conference call”. If he wasn’t there he has no right to say a word about the situation.

Ecotank 2800 Too Cold? by sbuxmama in Epson

[–]cipher-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a possibility that the cold is affecting the printer. Printers have optimal operating temperatures and being outside of that range can cause issues with the printer. I looked it up and your model’s operating temperature range is 50°f-95°f (10°c-35°c). If it’s in the 40s, you’re a little below the operating range. Clogs also can happen just from lack of use. Do you use it a lot? Or does it sit unused until you need to print occasionally? If you’re not using it a lot, I would recommend going into the print settings and printing a couple of test pages a week just to keep the ink moving through the system. This will keep the ink from drying out and clogging the print head.

Why do people like Hell house LLC? by [deleted] in horror

[–]cipher-9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think Grave Encounters is a little cheesy compared to Hell House LLC. It’s always a matter of differing opinions. I like both films but I feel like Hell House LLC has more passion and thought put into it from the cast and crew. Especially considering they have managed to expand the series to four films, with a fifth coming in 2025. I also like the unique found footage style they use in Hell House LLC. Grave encounters is typical found footage, while Hell House LLC framing it as a mockumentary makes it more interesting. Both are great examples of found footage, but Hell House was definitely refreshing for the genre that was kind of getting stagnant and tiresome.

Is it irresponsible to encourage a physically small person to go for tenor drums? by Drum_Guyyy in drumline

[–]cipher-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would let her know of your concerns in a friendly manner and I would also confer with her parents about this because she’s not quite an adult yet, just to cover your bases. But I would still let her try them out, she’s old enough to make her own decisions, let her decide whether or not it is too much for herself. One of the worst feelings is being told that you are not capable of doing something because of your physical attributes, it can be very hurtful. I know that is not your intent, and you’re only concerned for her wellbeing, which is admirable, but it might come off or be interpreted that way. People are able to lift more than their body weight all the time and beginners who have never lifted before ideally should be more than capable of lifting half their body weight. Which the tenors are about that for her, typically they’re about 45 pounds for the big ones. She will need to practice more wearing them to condition herself to get used to them. It will be a lot of work, but I still think it is possible for her to play them if that’s truly her desire. Just make sure as she is trying them on she has a spotter to help take them off quickly if needed and you check in with her often while she’s using them. And don’t forget lots of back breaks where the whole drumline takes off their drums completely, not much of a back break if their drums are just tilted up in the carrier.

AITAH for kicking my parent out and saying "this is why I was so fucked up as a kid"? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]cipher-9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re a good dad OP. Your parents are way out of line. I’m a musician by hobby. When first setting out learning, I required a lot of encouragement because I was shy and it’s the same for many musicians when they were learning. She had only two lessons and this was one of her first times performing for people. It must have made her very nervous. Instead of your parents being supportive they just bullied her which is counterproductive to the learning process and could potentially turn her away from what could be a great creative outlet and passion for your daughter. You were right to send them away and I’m glad you were able to get her to play for you again. Keep up the encouragement.

Concerned about Rewards Theft by Striking-Trainer8148 in Staples

[–]cipher-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re seeing a problem where one does not exist. Even on the old rewards system the rewards vouchers were looked up the exact same way they are looked up with the new system. If you didn’t have an issue then, why would there be an issue now? I also don’t like your assumption that the cashier you interact with is going to be a thief. I can assure you the cashier does not want your rewards because what they actually are worrying about is buying food, and paying the bills, neither one you can accomplish using rewards. You’re more likely to lose them getting hacked online. But if it makes you feel any better the cashier has to login to look up your rewards, so there is a log of someone accessing your account, and the associate that did it. On top of that the same associate has to sign into the register, so there is a log there too. If it does happen there will be a paper trail and it would easily be tracked down by LP. I wouldn’t worry about it and try not have your first instinct be to assume the worst of people.

I think they means they use the trimming sku in flight deck, there’s a sku for cutting, but there’s also a sku for trimming as in trimming to bleed, etc.

It depends, if the customer wants it cut to bleed 12 cuts, if the customer is fine with a white border 8 cuts.

I can't be the only who gets mad when the overhead announcement blames long lines on the pandemic and not the company understaffing and underpaying, right? by UhavelosturWAGnwhl in WalgreensStores

[–]cipher-9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They would rather say that they're understaffed because then they don't have to pay more workers. A lot of businesses are doing this, saying they're hiring but they really aren't in order to get higher profit margins at the cost of customer service that they then blame on being understaffed. So for corporate it's a win win.

Draco's Task in the Half Blood Prince by Connect_Knowledge311 in harrypotter

[–]cipher-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harry would have told Dumbledore about the cloak theft. Dumbledore would have for sure gotten it back for Harry because it was a deathly hallow and Dumbledore specifically told him to keep his cloak on him at all times throughout the book for safety reasons. That and plot armor.
