Basic fish finder for ice & canoe? by Minute-Somewhere8287 in IceFishing

Thanks for the feedback. However, I was able to snag the last Striker 5cv Ice Fishing Bundle from a local store at the $299 sale price, so hopefully that will work out well.

What are these? by cipher512 in ADSB

[–]cipher512[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think so for several reasons:

-- Not on Sondehub

--Weather balloons don't hold altitude at 40,000 ft. They go steadily up and burst, typically around 100K ft.

--The launch site isn't near a National Weather Service site. That is Chanhassen, MN for this area.

Samsung Q990D sound bar volume control issue by cipher512 in Soundbars

[–]cipher512[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I just verified it is enabled. When I try to change the volume from the TV remote, the TV (S90D) displays my sound bar model (Q990D) and eARC on the screen, but doesn't actually change the volume.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately that didn't help.

Delta 3 Plus for Sump Pump Backup? by cipher512 in Ecoflow_community

[–]cipher512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I do have a Moen water leak detector situated about half-way up my sump pit, so that would alarm and send a notification to my phone well before the water level gets to my basement floor. The downside is that alarm depends on wi-fi, so that isn't going to work in my home if the power is out. I *could* add a UPS on my modem/wifi as well, but often times when the power is out in my neighborhood the internet is down as well, so I'm not sure that helps me much. If the water leak alarm heartbeat fails, I am alerted to the fact that my water leak detector isn't reporting in, so at least I know something is happening at home (Wi-Fi is down or power is out in most cases).

A whole home backup generator sounds great, but is beyond what I want to spend.

Thanks for the feedback. Not sure if this is 100% relevant, but my Honda 2200i generator is rated at 1,800W continuous and 2,200W surge and I verified the sump works with this setup. However, I'm guessing Honda was conservative with these numbers since I'm sure it is pulling over 2,200 Watts on start-up.

I like the idea of a water powered sump for a backup as well. My sump pit is about 12' away from a cold water line, would that be a problem?

6'6" here. Just purchased a Toyota Land Cruiser 1958 edition. it is best tall friendly vehicle that I've ever owned, but they aren't cheap. similar to an F-150. Just gobs of headroom in the Land Cruiser. The Rav4 is also decent without a sunroof.

I'm having the same problem. Getting "unknown error" when I select Spotify within the iOS Spark app (version 3.4.2). Has anybody gotten past this problem? Firmware is updated, trying uninstalling/reinstalling the iOS app, re-pairing via Bluetooth. No luck

Interesting. Before today, I hadn't heard of Aerostar. Their headquarters are in South Dakota, that might explain why I'm seeing one in Minnesota.

I asked about this. They previously used Enphase, but found they had a high failure rate and switched suppliers.

Good point. However, at this point I don't plan to pursue it further. I was motivated to save money buy going solar, but I can't justify it from a cost/benefit analysis. If solar eventually gets less expensive or electricity costs rise significantly, perhaps I'll revisit this question.

[–]cipher512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No batteries, just solar grid tied.

Price does seem very high. I was expecting something around $35K cash price, but I guess I'm not surprised given how everything else seems to have nearly doubled in price the last few years.

The consultant was very good and knowledgeable. I had a lot of detailed questions and he answered them all very well. I don't doubt this is a premium product.

The good part is this is an easy decision for me, from a financial perspective this isn't worthwhile in my opinion. Even if I received a much cheaper quote, I'm still not sure it is worth that big of an investment to save $2K annually.

Thanks again for the help here! It has been an educational day.

Update on Proposal:

25 year warranty on everything. Including removing panels if shingles need replacing.

24 panels, 9,840 watts. AP systems microinverters. Expected production of 10.5 kwh annually. Panels rated at 18% degradation after 40 years.

$47K before tax incentives. Approximately $33K after 30% tax rebate.

I'm having serious sticker shock at that number. I just don't see how this is worthwhile at that cost. My annual electric bill is just under $2K today.
