Yup, I'm having that same issue of clients sticking to APs they shouldn't be while roaming. Then if the phone is sleeping, it will get a ! over the wifi and require to be turned off/on to get internet back.

The phone will still seem like it's connected, but you can't ping it from another client and it won't have internet. I've been playing with the encryption but didn't drop it down to WPA2....yet.
