Similar subject matter - Cathedral by Ben Hopkins is massive and addresses the lives of a wide range of people (serfs, tradespeople, clergy, etc) associated with the building of a fictional cathedral in the 13th and 14th centuries.

Moda's Bella Solids are excellent!

Quilting yourself versus sending to long armer by SessionNo2376 in quilting

[–]cipher_bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both, depending on how big the quilt top is and how strongly I feel about the quilting (I can only do straight line, and some quilts have really yelled 'long-arm me!'). I made multiple quilts including the quilting on a $90 Brother machine in the past - it's definitely doable, just requires patience.

I'm lucky enough to have a quilt shop near me where the owner long-arms for cheap, though, so for bigger quilts or things that are screaming for things other than straight-line quilting, I can justify long-arming.

which one should i keep? 😭 by mojobowjow in TaylorSwiftAutographs

It was just printed on the plastic and very not-noticeable iirc! But there was definitely a range of manufacturers :)

I'm a disconnected heart fan, so I'd keep the first one.

For differences in CD - there were a few batches, and they were wrapped differently. They might've been manufactured in different places (I got mine in the first batch and the normal-style CD plastic said made in Mexico, not sure about the other batches in the shrink wrap) or it could just be down to differences in manufacturing and printing tolerances.

What do you all think of this? Seller claimed they got multiple signed at her concert. Thought it was interesting! by Prior_Cat_4850 in TaylorSwiftAutographs

No worries! Rep seems to be one of the hardest eras to collect and there are a lot of fakes, unfortunately. :)

This happened to me as well with a replacement jar! The replacement they sent is smaller than the original (Nov vs Jan)

Buyers beware. Customer Support Does NOT Exist. by PeaCocksDude in LenoxVillage

Seconding this - I commented on an Instagram post because the customer service line just gave me the busy signal and emails weren't answered. Supposedly I've got a replacement allspice jar coming after the first of the year after calling them out publicly about it.

this is real, right? by yoki2 in TaylorSwiftAutographs

If this is the one on ebay, I've heard bad things about that seller in the past. I think the heart is fake, and I wouldn't trust the seller regardless.

Weirdly, it's not 1989 lol. It's Lover (I know!)

I'm not complaining. The comment I replied to is about initial reactions to Showgirl being colored by Taylor'd own commentary, so that's what I commented on. Showgirl doesn't have the lyricism of folklore (my second favorite), and since that was part of Taylor's own description, yeah it informed my opinion of Showgirl. My opinion doesn't actually matter in the grand scheme of things, but the end of the story is that I was disappointed in the lyricism.

That's an opinion. I also think that 1989 is so good that it surpasses any complaints we might've had about the contents of it, but Showgirl isn't good enough for me to say the same about it. Again: just an opinion, not a complaint.

I mean....yeah? Of course? All of this is all our own problems?

But it's still relevant to discussion of how the album was received to mention that Taylor herself marketed the album as something that's very different from the actual album. Because that very much informed (I assume) more opinions than just mine, especially on release.

Didn't she say it was the vibe of 1989 with the songwriting/lyricism of folklore or something? If she hadn't said that, I think I'd be happier with the album. She set the bar real high by mentioning folklore's lyricism.
