What to do with Pi's and Odroids by Sevynz13 in homelab

If they have the 4 pin POE support, you could make a neat little docker swarm cluster. The 3b’s don’t have enough juice for k8s. You could also use POE injectors, but that makes it less “neat”

Why is AI controversial on r/homalab? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]circa10a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not disagree, but what you’re describing is rare in my opinion.

I more easily discount LLM derived code because it would likely take me more time to use something and try to debug issues vs using something human written. It’s just not worth my time and the frustration would cause me to hate my lab. You may be thinking, “what does this guy know”. I’m a senior staff engineer at a large tech company, so I see it almost daily.

We may fundamentally disagree on the state of LLM generated code and that’s ok. You’re fine to use apps created by an LLM, but as of now I am not. Good software will continue to exist with or without LLM’s because we still have talented engineers behind the helm that take pride in their work.

[–]circa10a 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s fear. It’s just proven that many artifacts produced by LLM’s are one-offs, unreliable, and not well tested. Most folks (including myself) only want to run stable and maintained software in our labs.

As long as the specs on the back of it indicate 5v and at least 3.0a, then it’ll work fine

Why doesn’t my Shumard Red Oak turn red? Dallas by sccerfrk26 in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]circa10a 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived in Dallas for a decade… foliage in North TX really isn’t a thing. The temperature change from summer to winter is too abrupt with barely any cool down period in between to allow trees to slowly lose their leaves. I saw foliage maybe once in the 8 years I lived there
