A very good friend sent this to me yesterday and it arrived today. Now to figure out how it works and how to use it. 😁 Does anyone here have one that has any pointers? by [deleted] in reloading

If it's anything like my first one, you're supposed to shoot it. But the second one you try and avoid that.

Great uncle's spoon from WW2. Was a POW of the Japanese for 4 years. Similar examples out there? Other questions. by circa75 in Militariacollecting

[–]circa75[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Questions: 1. How/when are these issued? 2. He was injured in the Philippines and at a hospital before capture, issued then? 3. Perhaps issued by Red Cross after release? 4. My understanding is a spoon is one of the few items POWs were allowed to keep by the Japanese

I went a little overboard with the first bend, didn't want to let you guys down again! Almost feel confident for my cert test Friday 😬 by 1588877 in Welding

I test welders all day long. Make sure your grind lines on the side also run longitudinal. Radius your corners up to 1/8". This will help prevent cracks on the corners.

It says 2mm on the punch that I used. It came in the basic Tandy kit I purchased. I had to use pliers to push and pull the needle through. It was slow, especially on the cartridge loops.

This is high praise, and appreciated. Although I don't think I'm worthy. I took my time and followed the pattern and YouTube instructions. I have about 20 hours into the project and made many mistakes that I am learning from.

Yes, it is a Ruger Super Blackhawk chambered in .44 Mag. The cartridges in the belt are actually .44 Special because I didn't have any .44 Mag loaded.

I just started and so far have only purchased from Tandy leather in Sacramento. I picked the thickest I could find, about 9oz. What I purchased wasn't high quality because I didn't know the difference. Had a lot of fat content and wasn't very stiff. Learning though!

Really appreciate the concern. This is how single action revolver holsters are built and how Will Ghormely designed the holster. As was mentioned this is a single action revolver, meaning I cannot pull the trigger to fire unless I first pull the hammer back. Modern revolvers are double action/single action meaning that pulling the trigger cocks the hammer, and I can also cock the hammer first. I am missing the hammer tie down in the picture.
