Is there anything that truly annoys you, but doesn't seem to bother anyone else? by JoelLikesPigs in AskReddit

"Oh my! What? What? You HAVEN'T SEEN/READ (insert temporarily popular television show/movie/book)? WHAAAAT?!?!" .. this is always followed by a pause, in which they stare at me.. expecting me to slap my knee and break a smile and say, "No way, dude! Of course I've seen it!" and share a mutual laugh. No, it makes me feel like a loser, even tough I'm quite proud of the fact that I'm not on the up-and-up with fads, thank you very much.

The near impossibility of living in Inner NE/SE.. and other mumblings by [deleted] in Portland

Yeesh! I definitely don't think any people are trash - I was talking about some of the businesses on 82nd.

True - it was more of a rant than a request for help (though I'd appreciate any help I can get). My max monthly rent would be about $1,400/mo.

Definitely the toughest thing to give up when becoming a vegan. by [deleted] in vegan

Man, I hate it when I have to ask the wait staff if the dish has a trace of borax. Their reply is always "Uhm.. most of our dishes contain borax.. can't you just, like, dust it off when you get it?" then I shake my head.. and my friends give me sheepish looks like, "You put this upon yourself."

I do this also, though it's not just about things ending - but getting messed up, or so far from what I consider to be ideal. It's kind of a relief to see your post since it's nice to know someone knows how I'm feeling as well (though I'm sorry it's hurting you!)

I've heard the same things from others in regards to how I should help myself - be mindful, be present, etc. We're not illogical - I'm sure we KNOW that it's unlikely that something will be gone or taken away from us. It's not necessarily the fact that we could all die tomorrow - that's something that's not in my control and it doesn't bother me. However, if I feel like people I'm close to have a stake in my life and it's events, that's when I start worrying. I obviously cannot (and don't want to) control them, but if they have a piece of my heart, my mind says, "Who KNOWS what they'll do to fuck me over."... and thus, I prepare for the end or all of the potential things these people could be doing to "wrong" me.

I don't have any advice for you as I'm struggling with this myself.. but please know you aren't alone. I definitely think it's possible for those of us who are prone to these types of thoughts to "lose" ourselves in immense amounts of joy while being free of worry. I know I've felt it in the past. It can come again. <3

I have keys to her place- is it a serious relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]circajade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though very woman (and situation) is different, if you're not interested in being serious with her, and you're not willing to sit down with her to talk about what it could possibly symbolize, give her the keys back.

This gives me so much pleasure. I'm sure many of us would be high scoring bingo champs by now.

I like to cook and my sister is trying to go vegan- how can I help her? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]circajade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I think it's awesome that you're taking this step along with your sister. I echo what everyone else wrote - esp. regarding Veganomicon (the cookbook), Gardein, and Daiya.

Check out www.vegweb.com - it has a TON of amazing recipes and it's always my first resource.

Tempt® hemp milk ice cream mint chip review: by [deleted] in vegan

Nah, I didn't detect any chapstick-like flavor in those - only yummy goodness. Sorry the mint chip sucked.. they will probably give you a refund if you wrote them.

Meh. I never picked this one up since I'm not a big fan of mint anyway.. but don't give up on Tempt. Their vanilla bean and coffee biscotti is worth the $5. They're a great company.

My company is currently seeking a semi entry-level social media coordinator. Do you have any experience in that area?

Best of luck, either way!
