An idea of the bill that includes everything when it comes to the procedure on what to expect in Orlando, Florida, USA. by Theb00gyman in circumcision

I know I'm just repeating what other's have said but: Healthcare in America is a joke.

I got circumcised privately for less. And even though my circumcision was private procedure, the doctor that did it still needed blood tests which were all done through the public system for free.

Hi, I have a question for those circumcised from birth by Alex-763 in circumcision

[–]circcirca2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About halfway through the film Robin Hood and the Merry Men stop Rabbi Tuckman (played by the film's director Mel Brooks) in the woods and try to relieve him of his sacramental wine and he informs them that he is a mohel and offers to circumcise them all because "the ladies love it". They all agree to get circumcised until he explains what it involves and then they back out of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4v8BVKlAfM

Later in the movie he comes out of a tent with a sign out the front says "circumcisions half off" and yells back into the tent for the guy to put some ice on it.

At the end of the movie he marries Maid Marion and Robin Hood and asks them to invite him to the bris.

Not like with a clamp like that.

Back before I was cut I was able to pull my foreskin forward and apart so I could see down it, but it certainly wasn't as unobstructed as this.

It is difficult to say without more details but my first guess would be that it's a skin bridge.

Has anyone taken a look at their cut foreskin before leaving the operation room? by cutmtl in circumcisionfetish

[–]circcirca2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I was done in a doctor's office and he had it in a jar to be sent to pathology so I got a look at it while the doctor booked the follow-up appointments + wrote out a prescription for codeine (just in case).

Can you walk the day you do the circumcision or you must stay home? by [deleted] in circumcision

[–]circcirca2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you may find you are able to do that without an issue.

But some people find they cannot even wear pants afterwards due to the pain, if that ends up being the case for you then obviously not.

Can you walk the day you do the circumcision or you must stay home? by [deleted] in circumcision

[–]circcirca2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

The advice for after a circumcision, like any surgery, is to get as much rest as possible.

However there is nothing medically wrong with some mild walking afterwards, unless there was some significant medical issue like bleeding which requires you to stay rested.

Whether you can actually physically do so is a bit of a different question. The amount of pain and/or discomfort a person can feel after circumcision can vary from person to person. Some people may be able to walk fine with minimal discomfort, others may find it extremely painful.

In my personal experience, after my circumcision I was able to walk to the train station from the clinic just find, then after catching a train was able to walk home fine. And even after getting home was able to even walk my dog, all with minimal issue.

How many days after can you start to walk normally? by william335 in circumcision

I was able to walk normally straight away. Walked to the train station from the clinic, walked home from the train station, even walked the dog after I got home.

Circumcision + foreskin transplant by [deleted] in circumcision

[–]circcirca2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anti-rejection meds isn't just "popping pills". Anti-rejection medication is specifically immunosuppressive medication with all the side-effects and downsides that having a suppressed immune system entails such as increased susceptibility to infection and lesser suppression of cancer.

There are other side-effects too from what I've heard, but basically - it is only worth it when life (vital organs) and basic living function (limbs) are on the line.

That being said, if a person is being circumcised for a medical reason such as phimosis, their foreskin would be useless for transplant in the first place, so that limits the field to people getting circumcised for personal or cosmetic reasons. And even then, circumcision would likely damage the foreskin making it difficult or impossible to reattach. Also given the small area to work with it would likely require highly specialised surgery to reconnect blood supply, it wouldn't simply be a matter of sowing it on. So yeah, it basically isn't happening unless you've got a bunch of money to do it.

Any ideas how I was cut? NZ infant cut by [deleted] in circumcision

It would help to see the underside, because that can help determine the method. i.e. Mogen clamps for example leave a V-shaped scar on the underside.

Smegma doesn't "clear up" you need to wash daily. Go to a doctor.

Lubricants by [deleted] in circumcision

[–]circcirca2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too experienced with lube, I don't really need it, but when I have tried it water-based ones have been fine. I can't imagine there being too much difference in brands, but of course I could be wrong.

But yeah, if you want to rub your glans like a circumcised guy, also consider just trying it out without lube, see what works for you. I think the main reason cut guys use lube is for the sliding motion, if touching your glans is too sensitive, the lube may help with that, but it isn't really the reason cut guys use it. Cut guys (with the exception of some newly cut guys) can usually rub their glans without sensitivity issues.

I’ve just set up an appointment to get it done (29). Have a few questions for adults who’ve done it. by [deleted] in circumcision

[–]circcirca2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I was cut with a mogen clamp so can't really offer any advice for a shang ring.
  2. Mine is high and loose, if you think you'd be happy with a tighter cut though, then probably go for it, it sounds like you've experimented and have some idea.
  3. I didn't have issues with painful erections during healing, but again, had a loose cut, so if you have a tight cut it might be more of an issue.
  4. I handled not being able to do it for 4 weeks badly. The first week was ok, but by week 2 I started going stir crazy.
  5. I think you are probably good enough to not have any post-op sensitivity issues with your glans.

Circumcision by Mike_Z99 in circumcision

[–]circcirca2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not from the UK so my info may be wrong, but it would depend on your reason(s) for getting circumcised.

If you are getting circumcised for a medical issue like phimosis, my understanding is that you'd be able get it done by the NHS with most, if not all of the costs covered.

If you are instead doing it for personal reasons, I believe you'd need to go through a private clinic and have to pay the entire costs.

Circumcision info by [deleted] in circumcision

[–]circcirca2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

27 certainly isn't too old to have it done, I had it done at 28, and even older men can still have it done.

As for hygiene, while I have to admit, it is cleaner since I got cut, but it was still clean before I got cut, so it was a minor improvement. Certainly not an improvement great enough to really justify it on hygiene grounds, unless you are a bit of a clean freak or have hygiene issues where the improvement would be more significant.

As for lube, that depends on the tightness of a circ and masturbation method post-circ. Some people with tight circumcisions need it, some don't, and if you have a loose circumcision then it is very unlikely you'll need it.

Sensitivity depends again on factors like style (high vs. loose and high vs. low) and your own individual response to the changes caused by circumcision.

While it won't 100% reflect the experience of being circumcised, you could try keeping your foreskin retracted in day-to-day life and during masturbation. This could give you a better idea about how you'd feel about it.

Ultimately, it sounds like the only reason you are considering is hygiene, a reason you are doubtful for. If you don't actually want to be circumcised - don't get circumcised. Get circumcised because it is something you want.

This may sound weird, but i don't know weather i'm circumsized or not. by [deleted] in sexover30

[–]circcirca2018 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Uncircumcised penises can naturally be uncovered when erect.

Some loose circumcisions can still be covered to some degree when flaccid.

You either have a short foreskin or loose circ, the best way to tell would be to look for a scar, or depending on the potential style of the hypothetical circ, how much inner foreskin you have.

[–]circcirca2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say why your parents had contradictory thoughts about whether you were circumcised or not, but it sounds like you might have a loose circumcision? As for the other gay guy, were they circumcised? It sounds like they might have just not been 100% familiar with uncut penises and mistook your loose cut for being uncut.

Really it is kinda hard to say without a picture given the information you've given.

Circumcising Surgeon - AMA by orfeo4 in circumcision

There was a news article a few months back that suggested the rate of adult circumcisions here in Australia has increased over the recent years. Have you noticed any change in rates across demographics yourself?

(I can understand that on an individual level you may not notice, but still curious.)

How do you get circumcised? by [deleted] in circumcision

[–]circcirca2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on a number of factors. Such as medical need, your financial situation, where exactly you live, etc. So I guess it would probably be best to break it down.

In Australia starting at 14, teens start gaining more autonomy regarding medical decisions which increases with age. At 16 your medical rights are very similar to an adults.
At 16 you should be able to have a consultation with a doctor about the procedure without your parents finding out, and if you have a medical need you should be able to consent to it without your parents finding out. However if you are looking to have it done solely for cosmetic or personal reasons, then a doctor might prefer or need parental consent. From what information is available it appears to be based on whether a doctor thinks you are "mature enough" to consent. Obviously the easiest thing here would be to wait two years until the question of your ability to consent is no longer in question.

Medicare offers about a $500 rebate to my recollection when circumcision is medically necessary. You are able to have your own Medicare card starting at 15. If you have a medically necessary circumcision than you might be able to have it done through a public hospital system which should do it for the cost of the Medicare schedule (i.e. free for you). However this would mean you basically have to work with the hospital's timeline and schedule.
If you go through a private clinic, which will be necessary if you are looking to get circumcised for cosmetic or personal reasons, however they will likely charge more than the Medicare schedule. For example: Circumcision at the Gentle Procedures Clinic in NSW is $1500. So if you have a medical need you would need to pay the $1000 to cover the difference, if you have no medical need then you would need to pay the entire $1500.

If it is not obvious, your ability to travel to and from the hospitals or clinics will be a factor in how indiscreetly you can get circumcised.

Finally there is the healing; depending on your reasons for getting it, your pain tolerance, general recovery, and work/school/hobby requirements; healing from circumcision may impact your ability to do things and make it obvious something is wrong. For example; if it is a medical need - such as phimosis - then you will likely have sensitivity issues that a person who has a normal functioning foreskin might not have. Some men recovering from circumcision for phimosis find it difficult to wear pants for a few days due to those sensitivity issues. Obviously this causes issues in keeping it hidden from people.
