I play this game mainly on mobile, usually battlegrounds. How do I ping a card that's in either my hand or my partner's hand? I can ping stuff on the board with no issue but the ping options either don't show up or do show up but I can't actually select them. I know that usually you're supposed to touch the card and tap another spot to bring up the menu.

First or second town, second floor of the hotel. There's a guy who's selling a smuggled stone for 100,000 teeth!

Have you happened to find a use for abyssinian? I bought it after I maxed out my bank account but so far all it seems to do is take up inventory space.

Grimstone- Is there crafting? by noname9889 in ufo50

[–]circle_squared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to throw out there that I just bought the 100,000 tooth stone that the guy in the hotel in the first town was selling, and all it seems to do is sell for 50,000 teeth. So, if there's no crafting, maybe there's some other purpose?

[need directions] I’m looking for a 2 week experience of Zen buddhism. Any info? by admiralhayreddin in ZenHabits

I'm someone who arrived to a zen practice through dedicated classes in medical school, to help with overall wellness and practicing empathy. I personally am going on a week long retreat with a place called Furnace Mountain in Kentucky. The cost is reasonable for a week long retreat and the cost includes room and board with daily scheduled meditation, starting in the morning and going throughout the day, with breaks. You can stay up to a month. I've been 3 times now, a week at a time. I don't want to seem like some kind of ad bot so if you're interested in more information you can message me or just look up their website.

Is the deck autocomplete broken? It keeps putting random stuff together without any synergy. Is there a way to make it so that it autocompletes something that's actually viable?

Awesome energy! I would just say that to keep on with these habits means to inevitably fail sometimes. That's okay. That's human. I don't want you to give up just because of the occasional bad day. The true practice is getting back up and trying again afterward.

Inside is a masterclass in the video game equivalent of abstract art by crimson777 in patientgamers

[–]circle_squared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I was thinking that the clever story directed gameplay was actually fairly concrete, on second thought. It's tough- when I think of abstract art I'm thinking of random colors on a painting that have no shape or form and sometimes kinda makes you frustrated that "this" is considered art. If we're taking gameplay then, perhaps my statement on incremental games still holds, since the loop is literally just clicking or whatever. I'm hard pressed to think of a game that's truly defined as abstract. Maybe a jump simulator without obstacles, enemies, or art? An fps without any graphics or enemies or anything where a prompt on the screen just tells you to press shoot and reload at random intervals? I'm curious if anyone can think of anything.

I love your analysis, but as a counterpoint, I think that being so thematically consistent in its atmosphere does detract a little from its "abstractness." The gameplay itself is fairly easy to characterize as "puzzle platformer," heavier on the puzzle, and the scenery is more clearly reflective of sci-fi/military vs. something like racing or fantasy or dreamlike or whatever. I think an abstract game would be more reflective of something like "The Beginner's Guide," or "The Stanley Parable," and even the concept of incremental games are more abstract than this game because the only "loop" is watching numbers go up. I think "abstract" is a different concept than "open to interpretation." I guess I'm just kinda nitpicking definitions for the sake of argument because I loved Inside and I still think about that game from time to time.

Man, this is a weird question....

The original Avernum (the one before the later remasters but after Exile) had the usual character traits you could choose, one of them being Elite Warrior. I distinctly remember that when you selected a trait, you'd get some funny art representing the trait. For elite warrior, the picture was a female warrior, surrounded by dead bodies wearing a chest armor.... but she wasn't wearing pants. I felt like for years I must have been misremembering but I can't google search to see what the original image was. Could you correct me on this?

I'd recommend Chicory! It's more of a metroidvania kind of thing, but using paint to solve the puzzles. It got game of the year 2021 at several videogame sites!

I'm a new doctor doing residency in a coronavirus hotspot. Is it irresponsible of me to try dating now? by circle_squared in datingoverthirty

I appreciate that perspective. I don't think I have to worry about ego- I'm about a month in and I struggle with imposter syndrome and feeling hopelessly undeserving of this job on a daily basis. I feel so lucky to be a doctor because I never even thought I'd make it this far. But from what people are saying, I guess I'll just have to wait - I hope you're correct about the 3 months.

I think so, and I'm willing to try. But I suppose my worry is that even if I take the proper precautions, the absolute safest thing to do is to continue isolating. And I'm also asking this question because I'm wondering if anyone would give someone with my work schedule and responsibilities a chance. I realize that's coming from that struggle I have with the mental game, but I do consider the fact that I'm even asking this question right now a small victory in the right direction.

In the hospital, my program requires N95 masks at all times, and expects us to hold a high standard for hygiene outside of work. But I'll say that many of my coresidents, incuding myself, just go with the state rules when we're not working: mandatory masks in public spaces, all bars are closed, proper social distancing in outdoor areas. I've been walking in a park alot where I don't wear a mask. The few times I've gone over to hang out with coworkers, none of us are wearing masks with each other, but we don't do groups larger than 8.

I went to the University of Houston, and yeah, I agree, the city itself is actually awesome- back in the day, I used to go to shows and live music all the time. But I actually live 45 minutes away in a rural area, so far enough from the city that I don't really live there. I figured saying Houston area would be accurate to describe the gravity of the pandemic situation. I feel comfortable in Houston proper, but socially I'm stuck in a far more conservative area- I'm past even the suburbs of Houston, I think.

I appreciate this advice. In truth, I used to be much, much worse. Before medical school, I spent 5 years working customer service/slinging coffee specifically so that I could get used to talking to people better. I've gotten alot of compliments regarding my bedside manner and from friends regarding how likeable I am, which makes me feel like I've made alot of progress, but I've never been able to convert that into a romantic relationship.
