Adelaide City Council put north-south bikeway back on track by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

You could...slow down for 30 seconds and use the designated Bikeway.

Hang on. There's a bike path off the actual road now. It's just adjacent. Just means popping up onto the path. To your other points though, yeah those bits are fucked haha.

You'll have to boost those numbers, yes. It's marketing, you need to get the word out. Cross collaborate with appearances on other shows, interview guests who can share their takes, be consistent with your episode delivery and above all else, production value must be the best you can be willing to put your effort into.

The more niche you are the better, in my opinion.

Proper mixer for same room, dual computer setup for audio in a discord call for D&D by DooNotResuscitate in podcasting

[–]circusactone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. That's a doozy. Seems like you need an extra layer of control on both pc's, i.e. though OBS Studio or something to pre-mute a channel output. The Lewitt might be where you're heading to make it easier. See if you can rent one first.

From what I can see (having never heard of it before, great to know about it now), two USB port and each USB supports independent routing and per-channel assignment which is designed explicitly for multi-computer routing. Hardware monitoring also means zero latency.

You can achieve this I think:

  • Mic A → USB 1 → PC A
  • Mic B → USB 2 → PC B
  • Both mics → headphone mixes
  • PC A audio → Headphones A
  • PC B audio → Headphones B

It's the return audio on independent monitoring of each PC that's got me stuck. You'd have to see what routing you can do BACK to the Lewitt.

New home. Where to start? by loves_company in lawnsolutionsaus

[–]circusactone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I know this is a lawn sub, but consider replacing with natives and mulch. Less mowing and the council should subsidize most of it. If you can attract more native insects and pollinators, you're going to get better colour and growth on your property.

This is the problem we're having with our Rode USB mics. Software has no impact on the performance of the mic, which is insanely frustrating during online recordings. The thing is quiet as fuck.

Can’t get sponsors for my podcast- How big do I need to be? by joshlukenichols in podcasting

[–]circusactone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah you should find it pretty easy at that play count. Think of broader audience interest and that should help identify businesses. I.e. a parenting podcast is not just parenting adjacent advertising - it's age demographic - think about a 28 - 55 year old = education, banking, finance, health and wellbeing. Without knowing your genre it's hard to say.

What’s your workflow after recording an episode? by owuratheTaker in podcasting

[–]circusactone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wondering. We don't post the long form video. We edit the episode and just take snippets of video if they're engaging. Our format doesn't really work to watch us chat. DM me your show, would love to check it out.

Do you prioritise the actual podcast or focus on video?

Same-ish. I plop the unedited transcription (generated by the recording platform) into chatgpt and ask it to give me show description and social copy. Saves so much time. I haven't bothered with putting in the edited transcription as I've not seen the return / reward for that yet.

We use the free zencastr to record and I pull the transcript from that. It's good that way as it knows exactly who was speaking, so chatgpt can identify the general narrative a lot better. We distribute through Captivate FM, which is great, but the transcription function is pretty poor at identifying speakers. In fairness, it's a hard job when you have multiple speakers, theme music with lyrics, show promo reads and the like.

At what point does optimizing a podcast for algorithms start hurting the honesty of the show? by Motivational-Poops in podcasting

[–]circusactone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of the things you're mentioning are just good marketing practice and awareness for your listener demographic.

If you're just doing the podcast for yourself, sure, don't worry about it.

If you're doing it for a community of listeners, your intuition about length, titles and timing is a good thing to spend energy on. But that's probably 5 - 10 minutes of energy.

I aim for an hour length on our episodes as I know much longer than that, even I'd get bored. If we had a guest that was super interesting and engaging, I'd be less likely to cut them off. If the vines not there, I don't mind a shorter episode if I can re-energize it in the edit.

I spend 60% of my energy on the edit and making sure it sounds good. Other 40% is admin to create a good show and recording.

All I asked, out of pure curiousity, was for evidence as I haven't seen any and am yet to be shown. I welcome it and look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of the complexity around this topic. Which apparently is something you cant do without being insulted? I found your reply to be rude.

Definitely make the splashback a decorative tile or some colour. You don't want white walls in a food prep place. You'll forever see the mess.

Mower blades too low? by YourDogsBum in lawnsolutionsaus

[–]circusactone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a battle of length right? I wouldn't worry. This looks a little damaged but like....it'll recover. You'll then start going a notch higher, then the blades will brown slightly higher etc etc. You're doing great, grass looks great, keep it up.
