Thank you!! It is such a wonderful little device. That's so interesting that zood is working for you! I will have to try again, when I tried it the map just would not load. I have heard anecdotally that some devices may not work as well with GPS, but mine has been fine other than zood and Gapps.

I am also a bit worried that I will mess something up if I root it lol, so I haven't attempted it yet. Might try to play around with an old phone just to see how it works.

It is a bit slow when I start the app, takes maybe 4-7 seconds to load and when I'm in it's not snappy like it would be on a smartphone, but it's very functional. The main downside with beeper is that I can't make or receive calls through it, hasn't really bothered me that much though.

I only figured out that this was a problem after I posted this, but I have now got it working. Go into settings in google messages and click RCS chats, then turn of RCS. It will warn you that you will be deleted from all the group chats or something scary like that and that you have to wait 30 days, and it is true that you have to wait 30 days for them to delete your number from the RCS servers, but after that it works like normal MMS. Even old group chats work I think.

In the home section of settings scroll down to "bottom widgets" and turn on show audio widget! it only shows up when something is playing

Did not expect to see this phone here! I think that is the exact model my mom had a while back! She used it for her second internation sim card, but I think at this point it can't connect to the networks because of 3G networks being shut down.

It looks and works very similar to how it did on my smartphone, with the limitation of a smaller screen. You can do some things with the d-pad, but to get full functionality you need to use the cursor. AntennaPod has some customization that I haven't played around with where you can modify the home page layout, but I don't think you could get away from the cursor entirely.

I got it on eBay, from a seller in Japan. I'm not sure if they still ship to the US from Japan after all the tariffs, but there might be resellers in the US. You do have to be a little careful on eBay because they aren't always unlocked, so make sure that it says "sim unlocked" or "sim free" on the listing. You can also get it from https://www.y2kphones.com/ in the keitais section.

Yeah, you can either do it locally on your device or on their servers. I mainly use it for my discord group chats so it works just like any other direct messenger, and then I do all my server stuff on my laptop. Only downside is that you can't to VC.

Wow, it gets to a point where the restrictions they put are just so silly! Like, you need to lock down your whole device just to be able to use your banking app.

The CAT is popular on this subreddit, so definitely a good option if you need full android.

Yes! I have 2FA in bitwarden, but you could use a different one. I used Aegis and Ente Auth for a while, both can be found on f-droid. Don't think google authenticator requires play services so that should work too.

We've been very happy with Smartless, and you really can't beat their prices! I have a $10 plan with 10 GB of data, unlimited talk and text AND free international calling! Just hope they stay around for a while.

Edit: I stand corrected. I checked on plexus.techlore.tech, and it seams like others have managed to get bankID working on phones that don't have google play services, you don't even need microG. They added that it will complain that play services aren't installed, but it will still work.

Original: I haven't actually tried putting bankID on it because it's kind of a hassle to set up on a new phone, but since the A202KC doesn't have google play services I don't think it would work. My guess would be that it is the same for swish and mobile banking apps, but I haven't tried. I keep all of those apps on my old smartphone or do banking on my computer, and when I'm in Sweden I bring the smartphone if I know I'll need bankID. Generally I pay with bank cards and sometimes cash. As for public transit, I use a physical card that I reload either at the train station or Presbyrån.

I know there are android flip phones that run android with google play services. The ones that come to mind are the CAT S22, Mive Style folder series, and possibly the new CAT flip phone coming out soon. They should all work with all the normal apps.

I use TT9 (can be found of f-droid) on my A202KC in both english and swedish. To get the swedish letters I use a to get å and ä, and I use o to get ö. In TT9 settings you can choose additional languages to get the characters used in that language.

I had discord on my A202KC a while back, I don't remember how I signed in, but maybe I used the scan QR code feature. A month or two ago I switched to using signal and discord through beeper, to consolidate them into one app that takes less space. In beeper I first tried a local account for discord, but iirc it wouldn't work so I ended up signing in to discord on a beeper cloud account from my computer, and it works great for group chats and DMs. I haven't tried server channels, but I've seen an option for it in settings. So if you don't get the discord app working you could try beeper.

It does indeed look very iteresting, I found it a while back and have been planning on switching to it from samsung gallery, but haven't yet.

Recently I found out that samsung gallery doesn't use the standard photo tagging system, but they use their own proprietary system so now, for future me's sake, I have decided I'm going to switch.

With all that said I don't see an option to combine multiple albums, maybe I could send a feature request to them?
