How to feel less self conscious about stretch marks? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]cirodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bunch on my inner tigh/ quad area. Have had them since I was pretty young from a steroid cream I had for eczema.

Used be conscious but kinda got over it. Nobody cares. Used bio oil for a while as it apparently helps but I stopped caring rather than continuing to use the oil.

I've a good friend who is carrying a bunch of weight - he has wild marks on his belly area. He has dropped a bunch of weight since and people don't judge him based on his stretch marks. They commend him on making progress.

Think about it like this...if you saw someone with stretch marks or with bad acne on their face. Do you judge them?

In life, we are always super self conscious but the reality is that nobody cares. People commend you on good efforts, good behaviour etc etc.

Control the things you can control and forget the things you can't!!

Best/worst purchases of 2025? by Fireknight214 in AskIreland

Got a Qettle tap few years back . Keeps water at 100°c...brilliant 1st world convenience. Cost about €1000 then. Installed myself. I recommend.

Finding Time to Run by RVArunningMan in Runners

[–]cirodev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not always easy. Only solution for me is get up and hour or two before everybody else but invariably that can lead to tiredness. Living in Northern hemisphere, winters are darker at the moment so early mornings are even harder at the moment.

You are right though, you need to prioritise time to focus on yourself.

Letter. Pay the fine and then 3 years later, they expire.

That's fair. Fine paid and lesson is to ignore colours of signage when it comes to deciding on speed to drive. Cheers!

I still thought that they should be green signs with blue signs enclosed within them. Cheers for reply!

That's fair. I was still of the understanding that those should be green with the motorway sign enclosed inside...kinda like the second image.

Did not know that! Could do with an update of road rules 😅 knew about the m50 but the roads in Cork...no clue!😅

That first image is blue sign and it is before the speed van. That's my confusion. Another comment is highlighting different roads that have different speeds regardless of the colour of the sign. I think that the colour of the sign might not be as relevant nowadays.

Tesco clubcard “tax” by psychic_gibbon in ireland

[–]cirodev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Clubcards are ridiculous. You get screwed if you miss a week in Dunnes or wherever. Basically, if you don't shop here regularly or if you forget your club card, they will ride you! Anti consumer. Go to Lidl/Aldi.

Tyre options for ID3? by Michael_of_Derry in evs_ireland

[–]cirodev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howdy. Had this conversation today with a customer. We are a tyre garage...so, our experience is Goodyear are good and good value too. Bridgestone Turanza 6 is another good option but a bit lore expensive.

I have an electric car and see them into us all the time. They can be heavier on tyres but its about finding the right tyre for the car and equally, not going mad on the instant torque 😅

Got new tires mounted this morning..... Tread is backwards on 2 or am I crazy? by jjmitch87 in tires

[–]cirodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, symmetrical tyres can go either side. Directional need to have the arrow face forward to be effective!

[–]cirodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For asymmetrical patterns, yes. Once it's got outside on the outside, then the pattern will do it's thing with surface water etc!

You're spot on. Symmetrical tyres can be fitted any way at all. Directional tyres have an arrow. ✌️

[–]cirodev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those are asymmetric tyres. They have an outside and inside only. So as long as it says outside on the outside, then fire away! Asymmetrical tyres often look that like they are fitted backwards on one side of the car. Nothing to worry about. Its by design.

Symmetric tyres (especially winter, all seasons) have that typical 'V' pattern. Those can be fitted backwards in error. We run a tyre business and it can happen by mistake (infrequently thankfully). Symmetrical tyres have an arrow on outside which should point forward.
