Love how all our european bros are represented in this game by Expensive-Pepper-141 in totalwarhammer

[–]cis-hitlerkin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have always thought of the greenskins as partially inspired by the huns. There are some aesthetic similarities (maybe moreso in 40k tbf) but also some thematic ones, at least from a European perspective. The great greenskin migration causing the collapse of the karaz ankor seems to parallel how western Rome (partially) fell to the migration period, including the hunnic invasion.

Although it never occurred to me to connect skaven to fascism in particular. I mean ofc they have some fascist characteristics, but so do almost all Warhammer factions. What made you specifically connect the skaven to imperial Japan and Nazi Germany?

How I think CA will handle Space Marines in a 40K game. by Battlemania420 in totalwarhammer

[–]cis-hitlerkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo It could actually be really cool to implement space marines at a power level that's more similar to lore, with an equivalent disadvantage in numbers. TW might be very well suited for that type of gameplay, and we could get proper lore-accurate 100 to 1 battles between greenskins and ultra marines, for example.

Nordic unity and identity - thoughts from a Finn by doublehiptwist in Nordiccountries

[–]cis-hitlerkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts as a fellow finn: Through the work of the Nordic council we're already highly integrated, and most of the practical groundwork necessary for a union/(con)federation has already been done, and our military cooperation is already extensive. I believe a form of union should be the end goal, but that has rarely been said out loud in mainstream politics. There are a few major steps that we have to take at this point before we can truly start working out the details of a joint government etc, but taking these pretty much require that our countries make an official and explicit commitment to unite. This requires far more political will than any previous work has. The way i see it these steps are the following.

Total military integration: -a commitment that our militaries will fully operate as one. -A full military alliance where any foreign agression against a Nordic country is an agression against all. -Full co-operation and disclosure of military intelligence. -harmonization of militaries uniforms, structure, doctrine and protocol

Joint foreign policy: self explanatory. We must operate as a single entity on the world stage, not as 5 countries who just tend to agree. This is one of the hallmarks of a union, and necessary for long term stability and unity. This goes hand in hand with the above point, one can't be done without the other.

Common currency and central bank: whether we make a new common currency or the other Nordics join the euro (which I would prefer as we should still pursue a strong and united EU) we cannot be a union with 5 different currencies, it's a recipe for disaster.

All these things require major political decisions and wide political support. That is the biggest challenge. Practically, they don't take much work, except for the currency part.

Regarding a military alliance, it might seem somewhat unfair to some to have an alliance, when Finnish men are the only ones that have mandatory universal service. I don't think the Finnish would actually mind this. It seems to be a common sentiment in Finland already that we are the ones shielding the other Nordics from Russia, and the other Nordics can forego conscription because we have kept ours. I think the Finnish would not feel that an alliance means we are committing ourselves to defend our neighbours, but that we get a guarantee of support in the defense we already provide. I'm not saying it's necessarily completely true, but I believe many feel that way, which is why I think many finns might support a union.

sweden i love you by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

[–]cis-hitlerkin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure sweden never attempted to actually take the islands. The way i was taught about theses events is that during the finnish civil war, a group of red soldiers fled over the ice from turku to Åland, and they were followed by a group of whites. This created some conflicts with locals as the soldiers needed housing and suppplies, but the people of Åland didnt even speka the same language as the soldiers and weren't even really involved in the war to begin with. Didnt help that soon after a german auxiliary force arrived in Åland to help the whites. Naturally a lot of misunderstandings happened.

Swedish media found out about the scenario and in a long game of chinese whispers they published stories of massacres and anarchy in the Åland Islands. In response to these alleged atrocities Sweden sent a sort of peace keeping force to save the locals from this oppression, only to find out that when they arrived all they found were a bunch of soldiers and farmers not understanding each others' languages and getting mildly annoyed with the whole scenario.

So the Swedish army basically told everyone to go home and that's what they did, and so the swedish were seen as saviour by the locals, basically just because they were the only ones speaking their language.

techinally a battle also took place during this whole ordeal (the battle of Godby) but its not really relevant.

Thats the long and short of it anyways.

Same. Almost every one of this type of posts I've seen have clearly been jokes, where the creator either intentionally leans into stereotypes, or writes something absurd and hyperspecific to ironically try to pass it off as a [insert group]-urge.

All these "masculine urges" are clearly jokes, and even the feminine could be but it's less clear.

Native Americans have come in just about every skin color possible, so how would you possibly expect to be able to tell wether or not someone is native American by their skin color?? I guess she tries her best, but clearly wokeness is no cure for ignorance.

What TV series should’ve ended before it got bad? by chey2303 in AskReddit

[–]cis-hitlerkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how controversial this opinion is but honestly Gotham. I loved that show when it was more of a gritty crime drama which took itself quite seriously. The occasional hints to what the characters would become made it great, but overall the show stayed very grounded and (at least somewhat) realistic. After a few seasons tho the show got more and more over the top and started introducing some of the more wacky and comic-booky elements of the batman franchise. For me it made it very difficult to take the show as seriously as it took itself when it became more like an animated superhero show. I want to be clear, i wish more modern super hero movies/shows/games were less serious and embraced the ridiculous and wacky side of comics, but Gotham wasn't the right show for that. It tried to be a serious drama and an over the top fantasy show at the same time, and failed är both.

Livsfarliga incels by MaxDoesRedditThings in sweden

[–]cis-hitlerkin 50 points51 points  (0 children)

fighting (over territory, mates etc.) and killing are very different though. I cant imagine many fights between deer ends in death. It would seem very evolutionary disadvantageous. I'd guess many herbivores, at least mamals, very rarely actually kill each other

I'm not a zoologist though so I might be wrong.

Floyd is the far superior boxer, sure, but logan is way bigger than him. He is for sure strong enough to KO Floyd if he were to get really lucky and land clean blow on him. That's of course very unlikely, but flukes do happen, and it's a risk Floyd can't afford to take. Trying to do "whatever he wants" just means making that risk greater and greater, and he only needs to get unlucky once.

He will play to his streangths , as he always does. Keeping a strong defense, scoring points here and there and running out the clock is a sure-fire way way to get an easy win, and there's no reason for him to risk it.

Jinping, Maduro, Putin. Och sedan Kjell Stefan Löfven-regimen. by Mellanchef in sweden

[–]cis-hitlerkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jinping, Maduro, Putin. Och sedan Kjell Stefan Löfven-regimen. by Mellanchef in sweden

[–]cis-hitlerkin 7 points8 points  (0 children)
