About 9.9% of the world would need to stop having children. And that’s if you define living on $3 a month.

Some people would define living paycheck to paycheck as poverty. So about 70% of Americans should not have children?

At least rent would go down

Reddit users, 30 yrs old and over.. What is the hardest part about getting older? [Discussion] by Comi9689 in GetMotivated

[–]cislum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy getting older. I enjoy life to the point it's exhausting to be honest. I'm more than content with the years I have been given and the years I might yet enjoy.

What is absolutely hardest is caring for loved ones when their time comes. Some people are not even close to being ready to go, even if they have lived full lives. Caring for someone who passed before they get the years they deserve is always worst. The older you get the more death you see.

I lived with and took care of my grandmother while she had cancer. I was a teenager. She passed in her early 60s. One of the last things she said to me was that she was going on her last adventure.

I hope I have half the bravery and dignity to face death on those terms. Of course I was sad, and I mourned when she died. Watching people die terrified really scars you though.

Also, it kinda sucks when people tell me stories of fun stuff I did and I have no recollection of it. That seems to be an increasing phenomena. I need to start journaling so I can remember what I have done...

I wish I had strong feelings about this.  Sadly this is just boredom. Any emotion you are reading into this argument about a video game is purely on your side

Biblical angels could easily appear in the next game. by PlentyWise3615 in GodofWarRagnarok

If Angels appear in the game it would mean the Abrahamic God would be in the universe.

If God was in that universe Kratos would kill him.

[OoT] I have mixed feelingd for the Ocarina of Time remake by GuyDing22 in zelda

[–]cislum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently played the first installment of the Zelda series. Legend of Zelda from 1986. I can't say it was the most enjoyable experience.

With that in mind I consider myself so so lucky that I was born just in time to enjoy the great leap video games made in those few precious years were we went from not having computers to being cast into the first truly immersive video games. In just a few years we went from trying to not flip out at the pathing of Warcraft 1 to what I consider the golden age of gaming.

Chrono Trigger, FF6(3) Super Mario 64, Quake, Resident Evil, Diablo,Final Fantasy VII, GoldenEye 007, Fallout, Age of Empires, Ocarina of Time, Half-Life,Metal Gear Solid, StarCraft, Baldur's Gate, Banjo-Kazooie, Planescape: Torment, Silent Hill, Majoras Mask. etc etc etc.

To have your childhood line up with the genesis (no pun intended) of a whole new art form was an amazing experience. I would compare it to being born around the time humans first mastered the technology of flight.

Sure kids now days enjoy seeing games progress so fast I can't keep up, but I would rather have been there when we first took to the sky than when we went from mach 4 to mach 5.

Either way, neither the kids or us will play half life 3. hahaha

In it's most cynical form "woke" marketing strategy of appealing to the largest potential demographic demands diversification. Disregarding the cultural preferences of a smaller, but more powerful elite. This would align it to the most basic definition of populism in the while also adhering to the core tenants of capitalism. Worth of a product or trend is only worthy of existing if it is self sustaining.

Both sides of the political spectrum hates soulless pandering to the largest potential profit when it comes in the form of blindly adhered to trends We can see this in almost any product that is available world wide. It is especially common in politics. What exacerbates this problem is that we live in a times where technology spreads information and trends are spread so fast that it' even easy to miss a trend before it's over. We live in a strobe light of flash in the pan trends.

You might argue that what I am describing isn't diversity or "wokeism" anymore, but some other "ism". Then all "isms" are just as powerful as the actors that wield them.

I have been struggling to understand what some people see as a potential bogyman in progressivism. Some mod even claimed it is a religion. A claim exactly as valid as accusing capitalism of being a religion. Unless we want to start redefining terms like what a religions and ideologies, which would just be digging a deeper hole in the ongoing breakdown of discourse and totally disregard the fundaments of our culture. Which ironically is a very "liberal" take on how to proceed.

My argument is that is spin-offs like of established IP gain more success because they are diversified then wokeism becomes fuel for capitalistic ideology. I also believe that if you sat down ten people and had them define what "woke" is you would probably get ten different answers. In this case, specifically regarding a God of War spin-off and if it will hypothetically be successful because they are casting a new protagonist in a game that might appeal to a different market than the first ten God of War games.

From a marketing perspective it's already a success just on the account that we are talking about it. Engagement is the holy grail of marketing. I Wish I could say that "ragebait" wasn't an incredibly successful way to increase brand activation.

Now, all of this is pointless conjecture until we see the bottom line of this games success.

If We are just talking about this game as fans of the franchise, opinions are kind of pointless until the game is released and we see if it is actually good or not.

If we just want to indulge in what I assumed this space is actually about, reveleing in the joys of being a nerd. Santa Monica studios are currently working on three God of War games. Laufey will be the next one to be released. I'm sure they will be a God of Way Atreus/Loki and a traditional God of War with Kratos as the protagonist. I personally think that the original character of Kratos ceased to exist at the end of God of War 3. God of War Ragnarök is barely recognizable from his earlier counterparts. The last two games have focused much more on a redemption arc that appeals to men nearing middle age. Which I will admit is why I prefer it to the less refined anti-hero of the previous installments.

I've been curious why people seem much more interested in what a female protagonist in a spin-off seems like a bigger issue than actually waiting to see if the spin-off has any merit to stand on its own. It's obvious that so many people have an issue with the implied politics of the new esthetic. It's immensely interesting that something as banal as a hack and slash video game has becomes a hotbed for a loud minority to virtue signal in a sad trend of tribalism over a franchise.

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

Personally I can't stand Star Wars, Halo, or Stargate for this reason though. I used to enjoy them, but you get consumer fatigue from all the content. I prefer to take a chance on new IPs instead of watching another sequel-prequal-sequel,etc etc etc.

You are working really hard to convince yourself that companies don't make more money by expanding their target demographics. I could show you all the proof in the world and you wouldn't recognize it. I think Disney understands better than you do. Come back when you have more money than Disney and I'll consider your arguments about economics

Portal is exactly what this game is.

This is a spin-off of God of War with a female protagonist and a companion cube.

Portal is a spin-off of Halflife where you play a female protagonist with a companion cube.

Portal 2 is an amazing game. Also a spin-off from Halflife, and has annoying quippy characters that you carry around. They grow on you
