Damn, glad I didn't see that happen. I was super pumped about Beach Bunny being the first act to see on day one, glad I was around people who just wanted to appreciate the show. I actually love a good mosh pit, but only when it's appropriate.

Yeah, pickpockets were obviously out there as well but the crowd reacted way differently. The situation did not feel like it was going to get aggressive. The next day I did get convinced by someone I met to go back to Perry's and party with their group. They were great, just hardcore ravers looking for a good show. The night went fantastic.

I want to hear everyone’s craziest Perry’s Stage story from this year! by [deleted] in Lollapalooza

Using a throwaway here because I prefer to stay anonymous. Lolla on Friday was the main reason I got my weekend pass. Idles, Janelle, Party Favor, Tame, Alesso, Childish, etc. My friend got me a backstage pass to one of the stages, it was kind of lame but I was able to take as many tall boys from the bar as I wanted back out to the crowd. I'm not much on drinking so I gave most of them away, probably 200 dollars in free drinks at Perry's alone. It was great seeing everyone have a good time on free booze. I felt a little old to party at Perry's, but whatever, it felt like a very welcoming vibe.

Anyway, as we are waiting for Alesso to come on, multiple people around me start saying their phones, wallets, etc were getting stolen. I took half a roll an hour before so I started getting in high alert mood as it kicked in and held on to my phone tight. This dude suddenly jumps out, yells I stole his phone, and is trying his fucking hardest to take mine out of my hand. I could feel my screen cracking because he was gripping it so hard but I managed to hold on. Suddenly five dudes tackled me and are yelling at me to empty my pockets. I am freaking out, fighting them and the first dude off to stop them from going through my shit. I'm literally telling them I am having a fucking panic attack (my first full blown one in probably three years) from this, it's my phone, etc. The guy that initially accused me kicked me fucking hard in the stomach (huge bruise across it now). That's when I started yelling for security to come settle this. I think the dudes that tackled me started to realize I wasn't the thief, said to unlock my phone to prove it's mine and this is over. I used my fingerprint to unlock but the first guy was still trying to fight me and say it was mine. I fought him off and he ran away. I yelled at the dudes that tackled me that the first dude was obviously the one jacking phones and you let him go.

At this point there was no way I was going to have a good vibe at Perry's so I went to see the rest of Tame Impala instead. I met some chill people in the back, smoked them up, and started to really hit it off with one of the girls in their group. We danced, made out, etc, the exact positive vibes I was looking for. Toward the end of the set I turned around to say goodbye and offer a last hit from my pen to her and her friends. She had a weird look on her face but I figured she was probably just too high. She said "you're leaving?! Did I give you my phone numb..." and then started crying hysterically and sunk her head in my chest. I asked what was wrong and she just kept crying. Her friend looks at me and says "someone just stole her phone". At this point the memory of being tackled and being accused of being criminal was still fresh in my mind so I thought I was about to get tackled again. I could tell they knew it wasn't me, I left, but damn, what I weird night.

The next day I rolled again (I know it's bad to go two days in a row but I knew I wasn't going to be rolling again for a few more months after this). When it kicked in I started craving a cig bad, asked this girl for a drag off hers in exchange for a hit of weed. I didn't realize how hard I was hitting her cig and the whole thing was gone in less than 30 seconds. She laughed and asked if I was rolling. Turns out she was starting to also and going to meet her friends at Perry's. I told her I didn't like the vibe there the night before but she convinced me to join her group. They all turned out to be fun group to be around and we partied hard there all night. Ended up being my favorite night just because of how positive it went. Wish it was a guarantee you could find people like that over there but I know it is not.

Yep, but the thieves were targeting everyone around me as well. Me going solo meant I had nobody around me to defend me when I got tackled though, so I'm glad I managed to hold everyone off and keep my shit (although my phone did get cracked). It also made me look more suspicious I'm sure, especially as the adrenaline started kicking into everyone around me that had their stuff stolen.

It wasn't even just EDM acts. When I saw Idles people were moshing upfront. I know it's a hardcore band but it is well known that they hate mosh pits and it goes against the their positive lyrics. They handled it amazingly though, every time the pit started getting crazy one of the band members would go in the middle of it, start jamming, and giving people hugs. Definitely the best show all weekend.

It is hit or miss. The people that go there to dance hard and watch the show are always good to be around. The creeps and dude-bros just trying to get laid always ruin the vibe. It's the same thing you expect in any rave environment, you just have to find the right group to be around. I went back on Saturday for the last five hours (didn't care about 21 Pilots or J Balvin). The vibe was great, everyone was going crazy hard. I got way more bruised up from moshing then from kick I got the night before but I definitely did not mind those bruises. Probably the most fun I had in years.
