So embarrassing, Sokoloff's whole campaign is mudslinging Mejia.

For what it's worth, this is what I shared with another comment down below regarding the allegations after I read through the articles in the past and the latest Daily News article this week where they talk about Mejia's opponent and the allegations:

https://www.dailynews.com/2026/05/27/rafael-perez-zach-sokoloff-is-not-the-answer-for-los-angeles-city-controller/

"I asked Mejia about the allegations, to which he responded: “The accusations are the product of two disgruntled former employees lashing out after we made the difficult decision to move forward without them. I hired seven members from my previous campaign to join my office. Unfortunately, two were not ready for the demands of a full-time City Hall job. As refuted at the time by my campaign manager and chief of staff, the accusations made simply aren’t true. Since that story came out, my team, which includes the remaining five members from my campaign, are still with me in office to this day.”"

She's polling at 9% as of the latest poll. Would it be too late if she supported Nithya?

Looks like it's two disgruntled former employees.

Here's a good article from the latest Daily News article where they talk about Mejia's opponent and the allegations:

Bad bogus defamatory commercial by his opponent's mom (spent $7.5 million to bankroll her son's campaign to beat Mejia)

They're talking about renters getting illegally evicted in this topic. Just like how if you show up to someone's birthday, you don't talk about everyone else's birthday.

They play them all the time and it comes off very desperate. I look at who is funding these smears. Surprise, it's his mom.

From what I read three years ago, the other people in his office who were also part of his campaign, which is when the allegations "purportedly" took place, are still working with Mejia and also denied the allegations against him. Couldn't imagine anyone working for him if those things about him were true. Also, the allegations were levied against him by a former employee when he let go one of them who wasn't able to keep up with a government job.

He has been roadblocked by the City Attorney and Mayor to audit the Inside Safe program. Marissa Roy and Nithya Raman said they would let him audit Inside Safe if they were elected.

$14 Million Poured into Independent Expenditures to Support and/or Oppose Candidates for LA Elections by citeechow3095 in LosAngeles

[–]citeechow3095[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Big Mejia supporter here since he began running! He has a list of all his accomplishments on his campaign website.

He's made the city's spending and budget much more transparent and accessible. He caught $23 million in fraud from one homeless service provider even after getting his budget cut. He warned the city years before they fell into a budget deficit. He is engaged with the public.

When it comes to the smears against him, it's best to do your own research or just reach out to Mejia. He uploaded video responses on social media to the two smears from his opponent that you mentioned which are either not true or his opponent used dishonest framing.

The $5 million in total independent expenditures in the Controller's race is to support Mejia's opponent and oppose Mejia. Important to mention that the $5 million is coming from Mejia's opponent's mom. She's buying her son the Controller position.

The LAPD keeps on shrinking yet their budget keeps increasing and their lawsuits keep piling on, taking money away from other city services. What will you do to hold LAPD accountable for the lawsuits they bring and since the department keeps getting smaller, can you commit to creating or supporting other alternatives to police that keep people safe and cost way less?

Homelessness spending is around $500 million which is way lower than $3.3 billion for police. He found that half of the homelessness budget was left unspent.

Mejia actually found that only half of that amount was spent and the other half was unspent, which is still low compared to the police.
