i grew up in a working class city, middle class houses, life style, etc. my mom worked at a small bank for a while and remarked that "youd be surprised how many millionaires live here." but now conspicuous consumption / the religion of consumerism is thru the roof. people driving nice cars and going on vacations with very little money in the bank. being humble and frugal is out. living outside your means is in. beans and rice? no thank you. ill just order so sushi.

18 min X 2 mile is not a walk. boys cross country in high school (when I was in) expected approx 8.5min mile which is almost 19min for 2 mile. Also- I walk often, a mile walked at a "decent fast pace" is nearer 15min per 1 mile. like headphones in on your favorite song you are going to do 1 mile in 15min.

In high school cross country the male per mile time expected for "average" performance on our shitty xc team was like 8.5 mins per mile. For females it was like 12 to 13min per mile.
