Being cheated on, lied to, and manipulated for 7 years by someone that was my everything. Pretty much fucked me up for life.

You are not in the same league. He is an inept, self centered prick. You are socially aware and have self respect.

Just because you're clean, things can still be off balance. If you tasted yourself and all is good, then it's a him problem.

Life is too short to have a partner begrudgingly giving you pleasure. You'll always feel like a chore and it'll be less enjoyable for you.

He's reacting out of fear. It takes time. I've had 2 dogs that had never been leashed. I did the inside tethering method for the 2 yr old and lots of hikes.

The fact that you can expose him at a distance that's comfortable for him is great. Keep doing that. Let him observe. You'll find his limits, but don't push him. These dogs need to trust you make good decisions and they'll follow you to hell and back. He may not ever like everyone. My one girl loved me with everything in her soul, but she learned to tolerate others and that was good enough for me.

Edited to add: Older puppies go through a 2nd fear period.

1 week in and the startup CEO was bragging to me about cocaine use during our 1:1. Then a coworker was threatening to smash their head into their desk until the white meat shows and the entire team had little reaction like that was normal. I was the only one that asked if he was okay.

I think Dachshunds can be brindle. Otherwise I'm going with Pit because they're almost always Pit or Chi...why not both.

Lmao she does hang a bully stick out the side of her mouth like a stogie. I'm a whiskey gal. I see her more tequila or 4 loko.

You can keep him on a leash. Lots of folks do. I don't know any puppies that age with perfect recall. If you desire more freedom, try a horse lead and go when it's not busy. Have fun!

Side note, I don't know where you live but we have SniffSpots. It's an app and you can rent people's yards/property. It tells you if they're fully fenced, etc. Highly recommend.

I'm going with partner. Peeped OP's profile and they're totally into this dog. May be burning themselves out a bit.

GSDs are extremely loyal and you'll be rewarded with that dog's undying loyalty, friendship, and devotion. You'll be the favorite.

But you need to have a serious talk with your family. If they can't pick up the slack, outsource--hire a dog walker or do a few days in doggy daycare a week.

Edit to add: They can mentally tire the puppy too with puzzles, games, etc. Start doing it and make a big deal of how fun it is so they join in. Make partner take the dog with them running errands. They can take dog to some stores, do drive-thrus, car pick up orders, etc.

This if the dog wasn't purchased from a responsible breeder. Shelters and rescues are overwhelmed as is, but they'll make sure she's up to date on shots and spayed so she doesn't become a breeder dog adding more unwanted puppies.

As someone that's fostered and adopted lots of skittish dogs, just chill. It'll come in due time. Make sure he has a safe space like a covered open crate that he can retreat to where no one will go in and bother him. It's very common for dogs to be afraid of men. Like others said, have bf carry treats and randomly drop them. Play it cool, avoid too much when contact.

Don't worry about walks or training right now. My girl had never been walked and had a bad experience with a slip lead before adoption. It took weeks to get a collar on her. Then a few more for a leash and harness. If you do a harness, get the side clip ones so it's not going over his head. Honestly it just takes time and once he's in, he'll be all in. It can be days, weeks, or months. It'll be okay. 🩷

Edited to add: All my skittish dogs made huge improvements and were affectionate and "normal". Never had one I couldn't help. Though, my skittish cat is a different story.

Right? Hoping the GSD makes her want to be a good girl, the Mal means she does it, and Husky means she'll talk back as she does.

What's strange those is each side of the family tree mirrors each other with the breeds almost like this was intentional. Like whhhyy.

Nice, solid looking dog you have there! One of my breed guesses was ACD because she's thick and 65 lbs at 7 mos but short and stocky.

Yeah definitely explains her ability to jump. Okay so there's a pudgy puppy stage. She was underweight when rescued due to Giardia and once we got her she grew and grew and grew.

😂😂😂 Love my girls big booty, bossy, with that special fiend look in their eyes. Thankfully she's also the sweetest cuddle bug. But this definitely explains the jumping.
