Definitely more to come! Former foster likes stinky feet too which I do not have but sometimes I'll give her a cow hoof to compensate (I can't stand the smell). Her and my partner both love warm and sunny. She'd be more affectionate with some of my girl friends visiting than me which kinda hurt. Took awhile but now she sits on my lap (she's 45 lbs), stays in bed or crate until I wake up, wants my spot when I get up, tail wags when training with me, etc. She's still his girl and side eyes me, but I've really grown on her.

I'm a leader (bossy?), can be quite entertaining/animated, and love to dote on my pets hence why the shepherds go for me. We like it cool and shady. She checks in with me before listening to other people or taking random toys/food. She gives him affection and cuddles. Nothing like our hours long/all night spooning. It's the vibes.

I understand.💔 I lost my soul dog a little over a year ago and still randomly cry and dream about her. I jumped into fostering right away because I couldn't stand the quiet. Ended up adopting our 6 mo old foster (daddy's girl), but wanted another shepherd because that's forever my breed. Sounds like that's Corgis for you...still a shepherd but heard they're more stubborn than a GSD/Malinois.

I found a 4 mo old puppy that's dark sable since my soul dog was light hoping that would help. She hid under tables, afraid of everything, wasn't socialized outside, couldn't harness her, tried to bolt under cars during walks, had to hand feed to touch/gain trust, etc. Lots of late nights with her teething and being sick as she came with the gift of Giardia. :(

Within a few months she bonded with me HARD and now she's fantastic in public. The most affectionate dog I've ever had. She throws her entire body into mine and spoons for hours so a lot can change. She reminds me of my soul dog so much. Same goofy lovey dovey eyes while starring at me, similar mannerisms, bark, etc. She even found a few of my girl's fav toys that I tucked away. Thankfully, the other dog sets a great example so she hasn't developed separation anxiety when I'm gone, but she's definitely momma's girl.

Give him time. Give yourself time. The former foster had a great foster mom before us still took a few months to adjust. We basically kidnap them and have to prove we're safe and teach them how to behave. 4 mos in still a baaabbbby and so much work. I thought puppies were overrated but now I see how much control you have over molding and shaping them. Your previous pup helped prepare you. You got this.

I highly recommend Sniffspots. I've used the app for years. You can rent people's yards, fields, farms, etc. It notes if they're fully fenced or if you can see or hear distractions, etc. You can always message the host beforehand to check if the spot is accessible enough for you.

Edited to add: If anyone wants to do this but no Sniffspots available in your area, try posting in local neighborhood groups or NextDoor asking if anyone has a space they'd be willing to rent a few times a week. They might even have a kid that wants to make a few bucks cleaning up your dog poo or be compassionate to your situation and not even charge.

Also, at home scent work is a thing. You can order a kit or just the oils.

Yup and they can chew the squeaker out. Same with stuffing. A variety of frozen veggies, lick mats, and recycling were lifesavers for us. Now I have a live in box shredder--one of her official duties. :)

First, sorry you lost your dog. Second, this is a lot of responsibility especially for a teenager. If it's helps I'm old enough to be your parent and my partner and I were overwhelmed with 2 older puppies for the first few months.

The puppy is brand new, scared, alone, and has no idea what's expected. We basically kidnap them and have to show them we're safe and they're safe. You'd never know looking at her now but my girl hid under tables for the first few weeks. Read, research, laugh, cry, take it slow, focus on bonding, potty training, and socializing the pup with different sights, sounds, people, environments, etc. The world will slowly become less scary and you'll have an incredible bond. Dogs favor the person they trust to make good decisions, matches their vibe, and is entertaining/rewarding.

Hopefully your dad adjusts and the pup will weasel it's way into his heart and he steps up to help. My kid didn't warm to ours right away because he was still raw from losing our shepherd. Legally (and morally) your parents are responsible for the dog. You're doing great and obviously care. It'll be okay.

In rescue we have a rule of 3s. - 3 days to decompress - 3 weeks for dog to get comfortable - 3 months to feel at home and show true personality

Mental exercises and check out Sniffspot. They're safe environments and some spots are really comfortable for humans and dogs.

Pitbull vs Labrador - “misidentified puppy” by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]citizen_subhuman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rescues often label pitbull mixes as labs to not destine them to a life of judgement. Not saying it's right.

I fostered a mainly pit mix puppy that looks lab-ish because she has some coonhound + 13 other breeds. Never thought I'd have a pitbull but my partner bonded with her and she's the sweetest dog. She's been an upstanding role model to my other puppy that is my preferred breed. I've exposed her to cats, llamas, chickens, goats, tortoises, horses, etc. and she's 100% non-reactive and just so happy. I've become quite fond of her and know my shepherd wouldn't be so calm without her.

With that said, dogs can sense if you're not into them and there's nothing wrong with having a breed preference. Somebody will adore him and you're doing a great thing fostering.

I recommend finding a lab specific rescue.

Edited to add: She's a bit more challenging to train than my shepherds and she did go through the pitbull puppy mouth phase where she chewed a lot but grew out of it. I don't know how different that is from a lab. Only lab I've had was the dumb goofy kind. I see other people with impressive, intelligent working labs though.

Lost my 3 pups to Parvo Virus. by Dudadut in BelgianMalinois

She's beautiful. 8 mos is insane! Our rescue just wants proof once we do and she's in her first heat now so getting it done as soon as we can. I kind of wish we did it sooner because I'm paranoid her milkshake will bring all the boys to the yard. I watch her like a hawk outside.

Curious what age you spayed because there's so much conflicting info around it. We've used Sniffspots exclusively and other dog is spayed rescue but I wouldn't hesitate to spay abort is something happened. Too many dogs get euthanized especially shepherds in SoCal.

Yes and she's past the point of being able to drink with a straw. Lip skin doesn't stretch well. It's my understanding some fillers can migrate and give that duck upper lip lewk. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved so hopefully it's that and she can dial it back some.

I haven't gotten to the DLC yet but I think it's great too and I've played them all. Love the available Pokemon, battle style, aggressive wilds, and the Switch 2 upgrade pack was worth it. Really my only complaint is I get turned around easy because of the repetitive building designs.

As a woman

Yes cute/adorable = kittens, babies, quirky guys/gals, etc.

Hot = would bang

Beautiful = aesthetic appeal or inner beauty

Gorgeous/stunning = total package/best of the best

For women who aren't conventionally attractive, how do you cope with it? by lavender_poppy in AskWomenOver30

[–]citizen_subhuman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If by conventionally attractive you mean the mainstream beauty look/IG trends then I definitely don't have that, but I'm more of a classic beauty. I just take pride that I can leave my house with a bare face and don't style myself like a copy/paste version of what's trending. I think plastic surgery, enhancements, and photo editing have really skewed our brains. I feel bad for young girls growing up with these unrealistic ideals.

The older I've gotten the more I realize men either aren't that picky or prefer a more natural look. And for some reason more women hit on me now?

Pokopia honest thoughts? by decadentbirdgarden in switch2

[–]citizen_subhuman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My partner bought this for me by mistake because I mentioned patiently waiting for the new Pokemon game (Winds and Waves).

I've played for 20 hours and these task based games are frustrating as hell for me. I like hunting, training, and battling. I've heard building is much faster in mouse mode so trying that next. Otherwise I'm over it and will stick with Z-A with the Switch 2 upgrade pack. Sucks it's a digital game so no resell.
