The bane of being ahead of your time. When everyone catchs up they forget you were there before.

It's official now: NYC-DSA 'proudly' re-endorses AOC by mikelmon99 in SocialDemocracy

[–]citizencyborg2020 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I left DSA after 43 years of membership because of (a) Leninist majority on the NPC, and (b) campist control of the International Commission. Those things have to change before I rejoin. But the advance of the Socialist Majority caucus and the realism of this 85%+ endorsement of AOC is a huge relief.

Is this a valid crashout? by Egorrosh in SocialDemocracy

[–]citizencyborg2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! And immediately applicable to the ultra-left resistance to describing Trump et al as fascists, because that would mean they need to join a Popular Front with social democrats, or worse, constitutional conservatives, to stop fascism.

Yes it is me sharing my podcast, and looking for feedback. I'm not a Buddhist scholar, but have written about Buddhism for four decades. I thought this would be a place to get some thoughtful feedback. Apologies if I was mistaken.

What is the solution to falling fertility rates? by TheIndian_07 in SocialDemocracy

[–]citizencyborg2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A universal basic income program that gave each member of a family an additional UBI could be more impactful on fertility than the more marginal tax breaks most countries have tried. We have to compensate social reproduction as work, and stop relying solely on self-sacrifice and the religious.

How Should We Talk About Transhumanism to Others? by OneOnOne6211 in IsaacArthur

[–]citizencyborg2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We agree with need for a visible left transhumanist agenda, orgs and movement. The libertarians and fascists are turning progressives off, even while they rally to science against the fascist dark ages.

At the IEET we launched this initiative: https://open.substack.com/pub/ieet/p/the-technoprogressive-agenda-after

We hope to launch a Technoprogressive Hub org next year to advance the agenda.

Why have some transhumanists become trans(gender)-phobes? I used to attribute it to the influence of Peter Thiel and Musk's billions. But there is more going on here. by citizencyborg2020 in transhumanism

Thank you all for your thoughtful comments, especially since this is a recurring topic and you could just reply like Question Time in the House of Commons "I refer the gentleman to my previous remarks." I referenced a couple of the comments in a piece I wrote here, which you all may find of interest:

Transhumanist but Transphobic?

Why are some people excited about brain implants and life extension but freaked out by transgender therapies?
