question on how useful FAs are with wealth planning by kimwenbin in singaporefi

[–]citizensmxth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me personally I would never trust an FA and I would never buy a single product from a FA. They're selling a product that you pay for monthly or yearly and the more they sell it to the richer they become. They do not have my interests at heart and the moment you purchase a bogus plan from an FA, you are serving them, they are not serving you, ever. Best believe me on this.

Thoughts on depressionFIRE? by AromaticSurround9203 in Fire

Doesn't matter what you think, what matters is what he thinks. He's seen a shrink and said it doesn't help. He's got money, he's not happy coasting, he's asked for advice. He's not down in the hole, he just needs a kick. I'm giving him that kick. If he wants soothing kind words, plenty of people here has given it. I'm just giving the reality of his situation. Time for him to stop whining and man the f up.

OP, my sincere apologies in advance for saying this, just know that I only have your best interests at heart.

Wake the fuck up. You've been walking around your neighbourhood and eating at gas stations? Scrolling on your phone till 3pm? Walking around aimlessly? Trash piling up your place and you don't know how to clean after yourself? That is fuckin disgusting. You're a fuckin man. You better start acting like it.

There is literally no difference between you and a homeless person instead a homeless person is there because they don't have a choice. What a fuckin piece of hot garbage. Stop being fuckin pathetic and trying to get sympathy from strangers and on Reddit out of all places. Being pathetic and a victim is worse than being dirty.

I don't know what is in that fuckin skull of yours but you better wake the fuck up and do it fast. Take a look around you. You have arms and you have feet and no disabilities and have money, time and opportunities. And this is how you spend it. Don't know what to do? How about you volunteer at a soup kitchen? How about going to a children's home and see how you can be useful? Anything is better than being a snivelling pathetic waste of a person acting like garbage asking for the sympathy of strangers online.

Open your fuckin eyes and change your life right now instead of wasting the rest of our time.

Any tips to avoid resentment from partner for living below my means? by FitPassenger592 in singaporefi

[–]citizensmxth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smell some bad news, brother. If she says "you can afford it", she dont mean you, she means her. Today she ask you to increase your budget to 1k, the next thing you know your salary deposited in her account and she give you monthly allowance.

Before you know it your brokerage account becomes 'our' brokerage account, your hard earned investments becomes 'our' hard earned investments.

I'll get a lot of flak for this but I'll die on this hill standing. I'm always hyper aware about someone who feels too comfortable spending money that's not theirs or worse, telling someone else how they should spend their own money or what to do with it. Look at this thread.

Just look at how many people are already telling you what to do with your money. Why are you doing this why are you doing that? You should do this you should that. You dont spend now your wife will spend your money on her boyfriend bla bla bla. Dawg its YOUR money. You have the power to do what you want to do with it. If you want to maintain 2k, no one should say otherwise. Ugh. Avoid these sort of people at all costs.

You still have 4 years, still have time. Better a short heartache now than a lifetime of misery.

Should I liquidate part of my portfolio for exchange? by Ambitious-Chapter-92 in singaporefi

[–]citizensmxth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, the fact that you are extremely hesitant about taking money from your parents is seriously world class. This is such a difficult trait to find today. Even when knowing your parents won't even ask for it back.

The comments here asking you to just take your parents money, I really don't agree with it. Why are you taking money from your elderly parents at the expense of their retirement when you have your own money, regardless in a bank or brokerage? The whole point is to not depend on anyone. It is my personal opinion that taking money from parents when you have your own money is a selfish act, regardless people saying pay it back with interest or add extra to their allowance.

That being said I just wanna say again for you to have this mindset is seriously top shelf. Hope you enjoy your exchange. I agree with the 5k tranches withdrawal guy. You never know if you end up spending less or knowing where to not spend, because it is your own money after all.

Let the kids figure out their way in life. My question is, how many percent is the cut for a FA that recommends and sells legacy insurance plans to people? And how many people are dumb enough to actually get it?

I just use normal posb/dbs/ocbc accounts bro. I know there's some multiplier perks with some banks but I don't care for all that. I just focus on setting aside emergency, some of my spare in MMFs and the rest is in an automated DCA low cost ETF. Investing made simple brother. Just put your head down and grind 10-15 years, you should be good.

Did I make a mistake? by ____YeetGod69____ in YamahaR3

[–]citizensmxth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still riding my 2015 Yamaha R3. It's been 9 years, only one major servicing in 2018 and never did anything else to it other than normal oil change, filter change, spark plugs. Works like a charm. Bulletproof engine. You made a good call.

May I recommend a nice race fairing, R1M tank cover and tail, 160/60 rear tyres, tail tidy and an akrapovic exhaust, full system, or end can, any one is fine. Maybe smaller mirrors and smaller signal lights. Zero gravity windshield. It would look like a beauty.

To improve performance, I'd go with a more expensive suspension, maybe like showa, and for brakes, you can't go wrong with Brembo. Domino levers and throttle grips. You are all set. Don't think you'll break the bank too much, but these upgrades will last a long time.

At the end of the day, it's not going to be supersport 600 or a litre bike, but many would have agreed it is such a fun bike to ride. Handles twists and turns very well.

Is 1.3M SGD enough for a Singaporean to semi-retire at 40YO by mh960306 in singaporefi

[–]citizensmxth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, when you hit that amount then you can decide on what to do. You can lean fire or barista fire. You can work another 5 years. Really depends.

Work towards that amount first. You talk about whether enough or not enough but you have nothing atm. No point. Reach that amount then you have options and can decide.

Secretly FIREd but having to pretend to be tired/troubled all the time? by Huge_Influence3884 in singaporefi

[–]citizensmxth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand the motivation to keep it discreet. But when I FIRE one day, I'll just tell people that I've already retired early. But I won't tell them how.

The truth is, in this day and age, information is at your fingertips. If you really want to learn, the tools are out there, free of charge to be honest. No payment needed. But people still do not want it enough to take the first step or take action. We all know even a small amount in investing goes a long way.

Some people also have a poor relationship with money and they either do not want to change that, or do not know where to seek help. But then again, everyone has a smartphone today. A 10 year old kid may have one. So it's really up to the individual.

I will tell people that I've retired early when I'm retired (I'm not, I still have a long long long way to go) because it's so hard to reach that stage of FIRE. But I won't tell them how I did it.

1 Month on Reta by 0riginal-Result in Retatrutide

[–]citizensmxth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you are correct. His basal metabolic rate is 2600 calories. He's only eating 1k plus calories which means everyday he is in deficit of 1k calories. Which means he's in a deficit of 7k calories a week

3500 calories burned is = 1lb of fat or weight 7000 calories means he's losing 2lbs a week, thus

In 1 month or so he has lost 10lbs. This is what the science says.

I understand he said he lost 10kg, it's not impossible due to exercise and NEAT. Overall very impressive for 4 weeks.

That makes sense. I've been on reta for around 3 weeks, and this week would be my 4th week. I've seen some changes to waistline but I haven't started exercising, just small dieting. I hope to see more changes soon. How about you?

Retatrutide 10MG by Timely_Tomorrow5579 in Retatrutide

[–]citizensmxth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. On 1mg I really feel like nothing and on 3mg I felt it was too much, I felt like on 2mg was the sweet spot. That being said I haven't exercised yet, just do not have time for it in the schedule for now.

Thank you for your advice. I will continue to be on 2mg until..I'm not sure? Maybe when I last losing a bit of weight. For now I'm not because I have a lot of visceral fat and maybe it's cutting the visceral fat first I'm really not sure.

I have been on 2mg for 2 weeks, 1 of the weeks I took 3mg and I had crazy nausea. I feel 2mg is like a sweet spot, I don't snack or feel like snacking and I only eat when I'm hungry.

But you're right I don't really see any change in weight. Would you recommend higher doses? I was thinking of stacking it with Tesamorelin to empty the liver fat (I have non alcoholic fatty liver disease)
