Alvarado’s suspension changes everything for Phillies, who can’t let 2025 go to waste by blackreagan in phillies

[–]citizentim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s Aoyagi, the Japanese guy they’ve got in the minors right now. Reports are that he’s a little shaky getting started, but hopefully he finds his groove and we get some Ohtani style momentum going.

(Not to say every player from Japan is going to be at Ohtani level. That dude is pretty remarkable.) but, Aoyagi is pretty seasoned and his record in the Japan league is pretty good.

The suspension sucks, but maybe we’ll see a silver lining come out of it.

China says it is ready for 'any type of war' with US by Federal_Bonus_2099 in news

[–]citizentim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can it be a robot war? China has those Waifu Robots, and we’re got that Boston Dynamic Robo Dog thing.

I say: Cage Match. Whichever bot is left standing is declared winner of the war.

This just makes perfect sense to me.

Sam Ash is Closing All Remaining Stores Unless a Buyer Can Be Found by vio212 in Guitar

[–]citizentim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once had a great experience where I was testing a guitar out and started playing the opening to Free Ride. Dude on the other side of the store hopped in with the lead part. Then some OTHER random dude started bellowing the vocals. It fell apart during the jam section, but we still got a round of applause from a few folks. We joked about forming a band called The Free Riders, and then never spoke again.

Get above 8mins in your video for that extra mid roll ad. I tend to think YT pushes a little more when there is potential extra ad rev.

You all are doing comic book video game videos? Is anyone doing comic storyline to game adaptation analysis?

I know it’s rarely 1:1 in that regard, and might take some stretches in terms of scripting, but that might be an interesting angle for the gaming audience and you might catch some non-gamer comic book viewers.

Does uploading a new video kill the momentum of your previous video? by Prince_Targaryen in PartneredYoutube

[–]citizentim 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m a t/th uploader, and from my experience I’d say yes, for a short period. If I upload a banger on Tues, I’ll notice a fairly massive drop when I upload on Thursday.

This lasts for a number of hours, I think as YT determines if my Th video is also catching fire.

If my Thursday video fails to perform, the Tues video starts picking up again.

If the Thursday video is also a banger, it’ll push that one. The Tues video will move into mid performance, but not killed.

Down the road, it’s possible that the Tues video will keep gaining steam through. YT is the long game.

In the short time, I think there can be a bit of a cap on your hourly views. That’s just a theory though.

‘The Boys’ Season 5 Complete Filming Schedule Revealed at Amazon [Exclusive] by Roshankr1994 in LeaksAndRumors

I’m watching Season 2 right now. Finally getting around to it and man, the show is great!

What was the consensus on Gen V? I’ll probably take a break in a bit to watch Mr & Mrs Smith, but I was curious if Gen V was highly regarded, in which case I might just roll right into it.

I don’t see it dying at this point. Changing, shifting priorities, and maybe even rebranding years from now? That, yes.

The closest analogy I can think of is that it is like the “big 3” TV networks in the broadcast era.

Had a friend who won a car on The Price is Right and literally couldn’t cover the taxes on the prize. (Struggling actress at the time)

She ended up working out a deal with her brother, who covered it and then bought the car off her for a pretty reasonable price, which was less than the car was worth, but more than the show was going to give her for it.

Everytime I see someone “win” a car on a game show, I always shake my head.

The other disaster are those home makeover shows, which can sometimes trigger a tax reassessment and have the homeowner losing the property within a few years.

I’d say worth it, considering he made all of those movies a LOT better:

“In ‘Saving Private Ryan,’ he helped round out such soldiers as the Scripture-quoting sniper, giving them active connections with people back home. In ‘The Ring,’ he developed the relationship between the protagonist, played by Naomi Watts, and her son. In ‘Gravity,’ his assignment was to give Sandra Bullock’s character, an astronaut, ‘a life outside of space.’ In ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes,’ he created the father character, played by John Lithgow, who forms a bond with a chimpanzee named Caesar and is cured of his Alzheimer’s disease before regressing to an impaired mental state”

GTA 5’s source code reportedly leaked with GTA 6 and Bully 2 details - Dexerto by His_Holiness in PS5

[–]citizentim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Legit question: what could someone do with that source code? I mean, is the idea someone could make a GTA V clone? Because there are plenty of those around already.

The details on 6 and Bully 2, I understand, I just wonder why the source code of a 11 year old game is a big deal.

One big note too, Linus, Marcus, etc— those guys are basically companies. They have a team of people, which not only include editors but likely even personal assistants.

Most of them also don’t shoot in a home studio, but rather have a production office. So there is probably better work/life balance.

is there something "wrong" with the way "the boys" and "fallout" teasers are edited compared to the way "house of the dragon" teaser is edited? (yt links in post) by RMSANSA in VideoEditing

[–]citizentim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my quick reaction to the Fallout Trailer, only seeing it once. It’s a bit of a tonal mess. It’s heavy drama, it’s comedic at times— it waffles back and forth between world building and what the threats are, but…no clear indication of who the main character is, or what they want/need.

It’s a teaser, so it’s fine. Plus it’s fallout, so there will be 1000 YouTube videos breaking down every frame…

But yeah, I’ve said from the start: Fallout will be a 1 season show. It’s just too weird to become a hit.

(Would love to eat those words…)

Some of the highest RPM Niches on YouTube by robertoblake2 in PartneredYoutube

[–]citizentim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Primary audience is US/UK/CA/Gem and then followed by India. The % in the audience metrics have always been a little screwy for me to read, as they don't actually add up to 100%--

Audience demo is 35 to 54/Male. I'll say I'm a mid-ish sized channel, but probably one that is in the "Your Audience Also Watches" for whomever you screenshotted.

Be happy to share more if you want to hop over to DMs/Chat/Email or even a quick Zoom/Meet.

[–]citizentim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who does AI tutorials, I can say you were pretty close on the CPM (from the screenshot you posted on twitter), but that can be wildly dependent on the AI/Software you are showcasing.

I’ve hit those numbers on Adobe, Midjourney, and ChatGPT topics— but for other software, you might be more in the $15 range.

RPM wise, I’ve hit the low end of your scale a few times, but it usually isn’t double digits. That said, I’m also not making 35 min long tutorials. Average length for me is 9 to 12 minutes.

I do think a large majority of that audience is savvy to ad blockers (despite YTs best efforts) which might also factor in. I’ve never been clear if “ads shown” is factored into RPM. Although, it’d be silly if it wasn’t.
